Xciting 500 / Slip on exhaust options/drilling options
« on: June 06, 2017, 03:33:12 PM »
Hello,

Back at it again.  Scoot is running great, and now I'm looking to get a little bit of noise out of the exhaust.  I'm looking into drilling the exhaust (as I don't plan on selling this bike) but I'm not sure where to drill or how big.  Everything I've watched on youtube shows people drilling directly into their exhaust through the baffle inside, but if you have actually looked into the 500's stock pipe, it curves downwards, so there's no direct view/access to the baffle.  My next option is a slip on.  I don't care how it looks, or if it's used.  I just want more noise out of this thing.  It's too quiet.  I'm even thinking of straight piping if possible (I know it's horrible for the engine.) ;D

Xciting 500 / Great highway ride...J/K
« on: April 11, 2017, 10:52:05 AM »
Made my first attempt of a highway ride I'm about 30 miles.  At the 25 mile mark I experienced a loss of power overheating and when I stopped I saw that I had leaked oil.  At this point I got a tow back to homebase. $225 later and I'm home safe. Have any of you experience this sort of issue? If so please let me know, or if you have any ideas what could've caused this also let me know! Thanks and happy scootering!

Xciting 500 / Weird Stalling issue
« on: March 22, 2017, 01:11:19 PM »
Hello xciting peeps. So I got my 2007 500 Carb version. It cold starts without issue it seems (the first start is a bit rough, but I get it to start below 40 F.) my issue is once I get it started and get it warmed up (gauge is about half way) and I let it idle, the RPM's drop below 1000 and the bike coughs and dies. It will start at a tap of the starter, but then die again. Now what I have tried is riding around. Took the bike for a 15 minute ride around town, it will die at stop lights and stop signs and sometimes even going down hills when it's slow enough without engine braking. This concerns me for safety reasons. Once I get it back in my driveway I park it, do a quick wipe down, and then pull it into the garage. This is what puzzles me. Once I start it again, the thing idles clean. Doesn't stall, doesn't cough. I'm so Confused. Any ideas?

Xciting 500 / 2007 500 for $700 or straight up trade.
« on: February 28, 2017, 09:54:37 PM »
Hello scooter peeps. So I have a 2013 Super 8 150. It has 18xx miles. The only thing I've done to it is change the exhaust to a Yoshi TC racing and had the card re-jetted to match the change in fuel/air. So my dealer has a 2007 Kymco 500 with almost 8000 miles on it. The dealer had explained the that the previous owner dropped it due to not being able to handle the weight. So it has some scuffs and scrapes but they assure me it's mechanically sound and up to date on services and such. They want 700 cash or a straight up trade for my kymco 150. Would you take this deal from a Kymco dealer? If it was a private deal I would be wary, but I'm itching to get something bigger that what I have.

Super 8 150 / New super 8 questions.
« on: March 13, 2015, 12:58:05 AM »
Hey Gents! I hope everyone is having a safe warm winter. I noticed the super 8 has two new models. Both of which have some different stuff going on. My question: on the Super 8 X, do you think those extra nobby tires would fit on my 2013 s8? Do you think those nobby tires are a bad idea(because the are nylon)? Also, do you think it's possible to get the seat and naked handle bar configuration?  I'm envious already. Give me your thoughts!

Super 8 150 / How long will you ride WOT?
« on: May 14, 2014, 06:44:15 PM »
After your scoot was broken in, how long do you feel comfortable riding with the throttle wide open? Is it bad for the scoot to be wide open on flat roads for long distances?

Thanks!

« on: April 29, 2014, 07:57:01 PM »
I have a super 8. Looking to put either the Yoshimura Trc system or the TBR M2 VALE system on my scooter. Which one has better HP gains?  Which has a better sound? Which one is louder?

Any advice or opinions are welcome!

Super 8 150 / (Updated) (solved) 2013 Kymco Super8 150 won't start
« on: April 24, 2014, 12:12:48 AM »
Ok. So I got home from work. Decided to go for a little ride. It's 40 degrees Fahrenheit. I start my scoot on its center stand. I walk away to let it warm up, and when I come back 2 minutes later, it's off. So I try to start it again. It fires for a few seconds and then quits. The next attempt it doesn't fire up. I switch over to kick start for the next few attempts with it firing for a few seconds or no firing at all. The only thing I can possibly think of is, possible flooding?  I walked away angry thinking of any possible culprits. I did adjust the idle over the weekend when it was warm so it would idle faster. I don't have a tach but I would say it's idling around 650-850. What do you guys think? Some other details: I use nothing but ethanol free gas and I add a 1/2-1 ounce of Marvel mystery oil at each fill. This is fuel treatment. I do this to avoid getting the carb dirty. The scoot has less then 120 miles on it and it's brand new. Any thoughts as to what my next step would be?

Update 4/24/14 8:30pm

Hey ladies and gents. As soon as I got home from work I gave her a few kicks and she fired up. She was struggling though. It almost sounded like the cylinder was getting too much gas. I rolled it down one turn and she evened out. I let the scoot warm up for about 5 minutes before readjusting the idle so it was perfect. I still want to have the dealer take a look at the carb. 1/8 to 1/4 throttle is gargley as hell. I'm going to have it ran over during my first service. I took her out for a nice ride. About 15 miles. Thank you to all who replied to this post. You kept me same throughout my work day :D

Super 8 150 / [SOLVED]Burning smell after running for a few miles
« on: April 17, 2014, 03:20:12 PM »
Hey ladies and gents. I have a brand new scoot. 2013. I'm in the break in period right now. I noticed that after 3-10 mile ride the exhaust emits a foul smelling burning paint smell. I can also see a bit of smoke coming out from underneath the aluminum heat shields. Could this be packing material? Did anybody else get this?

Thank you for your time,

Super 8 150 / Aftermarket Exhaust options for a 2013
« on: April 17, 2014, 03:16:49 AM »
Hey fellow Kymcoians. I just purchased a brand new 2013 Super 8 150. I'm looking to put a new exhaust on it. I have 2 requirements.  1. It can't need other parts of the engine adjusted. My dealer said it was ok if I put one on and it wouldn't void the warranty as long as I didn't need to rejet or anything along those lines. 2. I can't make any physical modifications to the cosmetics. So. I've had my eye on two. The first choice is Two Brothers VALE. This exhaust looks great. I'm hesitant for 2 reasons. One. The reasons I listed above. And two. Because every part site I've been on lists the super 8 150 up to 2010. No exhaust for 2013. Has that part of the super 8 really changed since it's launch?  The yoshimura I'm also looking at. I'm a total newb here so. Thank you in advance for any advise!!!
