Super 9 / Headlights causing bike to cut out
« on: August 19, 2014, 03:37:30 AM »
I've had this problem for about a week now, turning ON the headlights causes the bike to cut out and backfire, I can start the bike with the headlights on and it will idle fine with the normal dimming but it only stays on because the idle is set high. My understanding is that something is wrong with the stator/rectifier system since high beam flash and tail lights work fine, same with the indicators when the rear brake lever is pulled in (all of which run off the battery). I've already ruled out it being the battery because I bought a brand new one not even a month ago.

Unsure if its linked but I've been getting a rich mixture symptom when I let off (backfiring) and on 1/4 - 1/2 throttle as if it's misfiring, my jetting was spot on before this problem started and I had just put a new spark plug in, I realize this might be due to exhaust gasket leak however.......

Since I do most of my riding during the day it hasn't affected me too much but it is rather dangerous at night (black scoot).

I don't have a multimeter to test the stator which is another pain in the arse :/

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Super 9 / Oil & Smoke
« on: August 01, 2014, 11:24:52 AM »
Just about every video I see of someones 2 stroke scoot (ones that are running great) they have smoke pouring out of their exhaust, I know some people would prefer not to but I like the idea of it smoking up a lot. My scoot is pretty good, only smokes a tiny bit on start up/low revs. What causes this, type of oil used? (fully synthetic etc) carburetor settings? higher oil to fuel ratio?

Super 9 / Sting 50 Build
« on: March 23, 2014, 09:31:03 AM »
hi all

I received a Kymco Sting 50 for free from a mate of mine (he didn't like how it looked.. vespa style) and I've been looking to get more performance out of it, I just like working on stuff so my mindset is what I'm paying for these performance parts would be equal to how much buying the scoot would be in the first place anyway. For those who don't know it has many of the same parts as the S9 hence why I'm posting here.

so far I've ordered:
-TECNIGAS Next R Exhaust
-A bunch of lighter rollers
-75-90 Jetting Kit

I'm thinking about buying a Naraku 70cc kit (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/400629043846) and 19mm Naraku Carb (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/271327985859)
-Install the pipe and tune the rollers first (ofc upjetting aswell) and then install the 70kit and Carb.

does anyone have any advice on:
if I should get a 21mm instead of the 19mm
what jets I should start on after I install the 70 and carb
general carb installation

I was planning on just getting a 70kit not knowing a bigger carb is necessary (thank the lord I didn't) and thinking about how a lot of guys I know have had their engines blow up and run badly with 70 kits and stock carbs, it made a whole lot of sense.

I also wanted to post this after I had installed the pipe etc but shipping from europe to australia is such a pain  :'(

General Discussion / Super 9 AC Jets?
« on: February 20, 2014, 11:58:44 AM »
Hey guys, I've been looking into buying a new pipe and rollers for my scooter and before that I wanted to make sure I could get the main jets I need to up-jet. I used the search function and found this link to some ->
(http://www.jetsrus.com/a_jets_by_carburetor_type/jets_keihin_99101-116_main_round_small_and_38-xxx.htm)

but I'm still pretty confused because my jet looks like this, it reads M75 which I'm guessing is the jet type (main) and size.

any advice what would be good, I'm still using the stock airbox too, would I need to mod that?

note: I own a sting 50 not a super 9, but they do have the same carb, engine, exhaust... etc, the sting isn't listed on any sites so its easier finding parts under the super 9 AC name.

wicked forum by the way :) //this should have been posted in the super 9 category, sorry.
