People GT 300i / Help! Won't start!
« on: October 23, 2018, 06:11:42 PM »
My Kymco 300i 2012 will NOT START! It chug chug chugs- but will not turn over. I took the battery into the local auto parts store and they charged it and kept it plugged in over night to verify that it keeps a charge.
I do see an engine light with the following blink pattern:

3 long blinks
3 short blinks

Also, I noticed that the reduction oil is ever so slightly leaking out of the release screw. I had an issue previously where the threading was stripped- so I used a thread-it tool with the spring, a crunch washer and thought it was fixed- but there is a tiny bead of reduction oil leaking .....not sure if thats related to the starting issue though

Hello!
I have a serious issue with my People Gti300---when I changed out the trans fluid, I wen to  put the bolt back in-and the thing just keeps turning and turning. i aslo noticed that some thin circular metal shards came out of the housing when I removed the bolt. so....it looks like the threads in the housing are destroyed. The bolt is in perfect shape--so its not the bolt itself- its the housing.

I purchased a little kit that is supposed to fix threading--but I havent been able to get it to work yet.

People GT 300i / wont start HELP!

People GTI300 - 2012
when I turn the key the lights come on and everything, but when I try to start it- it sputters-make a lot of noise likes its trying to start-but it does not turn over

I noticed in the last week or so that when I go to start it - it sputters 2 or 3 times then starts-whereas normally it just makes one little chuga chuga then starts.

location: Orlando FL
Any ideas?

mileage: 13,000

regular oil and trans fluid changes

I was thinking maybe the battery needs to be replaced?
maybe the spark plug needs to be replaced?

People GT 300i / Dr Pulley sliders NO GOOD!
« on: September 13, 2016, 08:22:17 PM »
Well I wanted to like them what with all the loose talk around these parts ---but.... here's the problem: THEY DON'T LAST!!!!! I changed out the factory rollers after around 2 years of happy, paper crunching noise -free riding. Well I can report that after a mere 7 months of riding the sliders that the paper crunching noise is back - and its WORSE THAN EVER. sorry about the caps shouting but I'm a little frustrated that after all that work the sliders only lasted 1/2 a year.

I ordered OEM rollers, brake pads, and a key spare from this place, with FREE shipping:

Chaparral Motorsports

I highly recommend it over kymco rip-off monster--where they actually have the balls to charge 20 bucks for shipping

People GT 300i / Careful with your key-and dont loose the spare!
« on: January 21, 2016, 08:27:10 PM »
Tried to stuff my jacket into the trunk along with my helmet---bad idea! I forced the lock shut and pulled out the key. when I went to start the bike, the key felt very strange-didn't go into the ignition. I pulled it out and looked at it---it was broken! At first I couldnt understand what happened-I was looking around the ground for the broken piece- then I looked into the trunk lock and there it was. Long story short, I got a friend to drive me home, pick up the spare key, and drive me back. Moral of the story- 2 rules:
1) dont force things----
2)  always keep a spare in case you forget rule #1

People GT 300i / on to the Brake Pads!
« on: January 04, 2016, 07:57:44 PM »
OK- slider instal complete! Now its on to the brake pads. I can hear a very distinct SQUEEEEEK everytime I brake- I thinks its safe to conclude that I need to change out the pads. Is this a relatively simple task?
-what tools will I need
- what pads should I order
- what is the process

thanks in advance guys!

PS. I have an interesting little story to tell-off topic- but anyway- I was riding down my street minding my own peaceful business-enjoying the great weather and the wonderful ride on my gti300 when I passed a lady with 2 big dogs-she was holding them back as I passed cause dogs really tend to freak out at us 2 wheeled motorists I've noticed. so when I pass she yells " I should let the dogs go next time ASSHOLE!"

I was perplexed- so I did what any sane person would do, I turned around in the middle of the road and wen back to find out what the hell this woman's problem was.

Turns out it was a case of mistaken identity-some other guy on a scooter apparently yelled at her husband. When she saw my gti up close she realized her mistake and said" oh yeah he was riding a much smaller vehicle than yours sorry about that."

« on: December 11, 2015, 02:01:42 PM »
In my quest to solve the paper crunching noise enigma, I noticed something that seems to be attached to teh exhause.... a spark plug. Sorry, but Mr. Super Noob over here knows essentially nothing about motors so please forgive me upfront. anyway-is this where the spark plug is? I have a new spark plug but am not sure how to install it.

People GT 300i / strange loose cord/wire harness
« on: December 11, 2015, 01:58:53 PM »
Hello! I was poking around the bottom of my scoot last night, trying to see if I could find any answers to the strange paper crunching/light backfiring noise I keep hearing from the right side when I first accelerate. I noticed this wire kind of loose-not connected to anything. Got aout the flashlight and discovered that it is part of the cord that connects to the kick stand so that the scoot cant start if the kick stand is down. So there is one cord that branches into 2 in a Y-one plugs into the kick stand, the other is just kind of dangling with nowhere to go. Seems wierd to me so I took a pic--anyone know if this is supposed to be going somewhere else?

People GT 300i / Dr Pulley 14g install
« on: November 17, 2015, 03:49:18 PM »
sorry for the multi post on this topic- I figured I would just created a separate thread here now that I am 98% sure that my paper crunching noise is the result of worn roller weights and that I need to install Dr. Pulleys.

Can anyone please provide detailed instructions on installing the sliders? Preferably with pics or video? I know it's asking a lot, but would really be helpful.

What tools are needed?
Where to purchase?
what weight is best(14g, 15g, 16g...?)
should belt be replaced also?
Where to purchase plastic( I cracked the grey plastic cover that has the kymco logo)?

Hello! I noticed recently(last 2 weeks) that I can hear a strange sound when I turn the throttle. It sounds like a high treble, crunching of like wax paper. it comes destinctly from the back right side as im riding-maybe from the muffler..? At idle, there is no sound, the sound only happens when I go from stopped to moving. I dont notice it so much as  im cruising-but then again it could be that i just cant hear it. I really notice the sound when I first accellearate. if im going at a slow cruise i dont hear the sound.

mileage: 10,451
last oil, oil filter, and trans fluid change was at 9000 in 4-16-15

any ideas?

I checked the dip stick and the oil looked a little low....

People GT 300i / tire replacement
« on: December 17, 2014, 03:32:36 PM »
Hello!

I have a 2012  with about 7500 miles on it. the tires are looking a little worn-especially the rear tire where the tread is almost completely gone. I thought I felt a little slip today when I made a sharp right turn. Is it time to replace the tires? And if so-how?

Thanks in advance!

p.s will provide pics if needed

People GT 300i / Part of my Muffler fell off--HELP!!!!
« on: October 22, 2014, 03:22:04 PM »
Hello guys,

so part of my muffler (see picture) fell off recently. I heard this strange metallic sound-and I noticed that on eof the bolts was gone . I tried using a bolt I had in my tool box that fit-and thought everything was great---rode off to the AIME expo in Orlando--came back home, and noticed that the whole part fell off somewhere on the highway!

Anyone know where I can get this part and the hardware to secure it?
