Maybe in India? Vietnam?

Made in the USA. You don't have them where you live?

the supposedly mechanically reliable German-engineered Mercedes!

Well, those days are gone now!  Same for Land Rover!

Do others have a plan in place in case of a random roadside breakdown?

Check your dimensions! Your Kymco Scooter likely fits inside a handicap taxi!  Please forgive, I know it's a hijacked topic, but I took it as I found it. It was too good to pass up :-)

Custom trouser pocket on my right thigh.  It's always there, out of harm's way.

There are several good videos on You Tube about cutting down the factory windshield.
If you're hitting bugs, don't cut down your windshield!  You'll be back where you started!  You'll also be out the $500 cost of a decent windshield.
Also, FWIW, windshields don't increase drag, they just deflect rain and bugs.

General Discussion / Re: if KYMCO would spend a few $ on marketing!
« on: March 22, 2024, 06:16:38 AM »
article is 3 years old and this is first I have heard..... if they really wanted to market, I'd have heard of it long before 2024
Like every other large electric bike, that e-Harley was a total bust! They couldn't even give them away!  If you've ever ridden one, you'd know why!  Kymco probably picked up the entire enterprise for scrap value.

how can i find 2009 ECU?
Do you have the Kymco part #?  Just plunk it into your browser search and sources will pop up like magic.

I am hopelessly IT illiterate.....and perfectly content to be so🙂
Don't give up without a fight!  God's greatest gift is being able to learn new sh*t!

Looks better than the Kymco tool at 200 bucks! So, where does one find one of these?
There is no such Kymco tool!  The dealers lease the software/tool from Kymco.  Non-dealers can't get it.  Any information posted here on functional work-arounds is priceless!

This alone sounds like a good reason to switch to an LED tail-light! I now realize why I've never had to change bulbs on my 15-yr old Kymco (all factory LED lights).

IDK -JJ and his buds apparently have the worst luck with scooters - especially those with EFI.

Stig

I like to follow this topic from time to time.  I truly don't know if it's a generational thing, or there is some serious issues with new technology.  Stig, recall the lengthy sessions you had with your Like 200 fuel filter problem.  I and a few of my older fellow motor-heads stick to pre-2010 carburetor machines, while the younger rich guys ride snappy FI Piaggios, FI Yamahas, FI Kymcos, etc.  They're really impressive machines, but when they stop working, you're going to be taken to the cleaners, no 2-ways about it! My more prosperous buddies trade their machines in at the slightest sign of a problem. Meanwhile, my 16 year old carbureted Kymco 100 keeps motoring along, long after the last Kymco dealer closed shop and retired. My buddy's Piaggio 350 is now being towed back to the Vespa dealer to have its $950 throttle body replaced. The throttle body had to be imported from Italy.  Required diagnostics and tuning are extra.  It's a work in progress. If I had to pay for that on my small pension, I'd have to give up motoring. I'll keep you posted.

Hint: there's no clue on this site how to post photos.  Some know how to do it, but they're not telling how it's done.  The rest of us do without :-(

These Piaggios are really nice machines, and a blast to ride.  But they're horribly unreliable and a nightmare to diagnose and repair. Everything runs along nicely until, on the highway a day's ride from home . . . it just stops.  But, that said, they're still a fun ride.

This is a very challenging Kymco model.  I've even struggled, unsuccessfully, with one myself.  It has a Siemens ECU that can only be de-mystified by a Kymco dealer using the Kymco diagnostics tools.  Parts are not difficult to order (I'm able to get Kymco parts easily online from a service center in France). But without the proper tools, you can spend a lot of time and money getting nowhere.  I sincerely recommend taking it to a Kymco service center.

You can work your fingers to the bone trying to get one of these scoots to go faster, but all you'll do in the end is blow up the engine!  50cc machines are "What you see is what you get".  If you want to go faster, sell your 50cc while it's still running and get a 125cc!
