Super 8 / Re: Throttle but not going
« on: December 03, 2019, 11:13:56 AM »
Reporting back... it was the belt, and the springs, basically all things associated with the clutch except for the pads. Parts and labor are going to set me back about $400. Hopefully no more issues for a while.

About 15000 miles on most of the parts. It's a 2014, I drove it about 60 miles a day for about 2 years, and it did great all that time. I've derestricted the cdi, took the little governing washer out of the carburetor, and had the dealer replace the jet pin. But I've never done anything with the exhaust or had the valves adjusted. Could either of those be the issue?

Super 8 / Throttle but not going
« on: December 02, 2019, 01:26:16 PM »
Been noticing lately I lose power at different times, felt like my brakes were on even though the engine is revving. This morning I started my super 8 50cc and let it warm up, but it would not get any speed even coming out of the driveway. I decided to get a ride instead of having to push it to work. Again, the throttle revs fine but the wheel does not spin even with the center kickstand down and the wheel off the ground. What's my problem???

Super 8 / Cdi box for 2014 super8 50 2t

Anyone know the correct part number for the cdi box in this scooter? I need to get the wiring harness too, since a thief cut the whole thing out of my battery compartment while I was at work. Having trouble finding the correct part. Any help is appreciated.

General Discussion / Are you really buying 93Octane?
« on: October 04, 2017, 09:16:53 PM »
So I assume most of you are buying 93 Octane or better to put in your scooters or other small engine vehicles.  When I get gas, I'm usually getting about 0.75-0.9 gallons, since my tank is only 1.3 gallons. So even though I'm selecting 93 octane at the pump, am I not actually just getting whatever gas the last guy selected that's still left in the hose? Am I actually even getting any 93 octane at all since I'm pumping such a small amount? Does anyone know a definite answer to this?

Also, any suggestions on improving exhaust, while I'm at it?

I looked on Kymcopartsmonster.com and looks like i can find the 82 main jet. Still not sure what that is, if it's the needle in the carburetor or another part of it. Couldnt find the smooth boss for the variator at all, so i called the number for the parts and service people there and theyve never heard of anything like that, also saying they dont supply aftermarket parts for kymco and dont know who does.
I hear Westside Scooters here in Asheville, NC does really good work. Hopefully the mechanic there knows how to get these parts and can just take care of the ordering and installation. Honestly, I don't know what a smooth boss or a variator are, so I hope I don't sound like an idiot going in and asking for one. :(

I can usually get 93 Octane. Does it matter if it has Ethanol?

Yes, thanks! I will definitely switch gas. And get a mechanic to put in those parts. Is there anything I need to do to clean out the fuel system since I've been using regular gas (that doesn't involve taking anything apart)?

Technical | How To / Ordering parts
« on: August 29, 2017, 12:43:40 PM »
I found a mechanic in town with good reviews who will work on my scooter, but he can't order parts. Seems to be a common problem where I've looked. So where do I order parts and how do I find out which parts I need for my 2016 Super8 50X? I need brakes, brake levers,a rear view mirror, spark plug... Plus is there any replacement parts I can get that will help with uphill power, other than taking the washer out of the car manifold?
Thanks

Super 8 / More power / uphill ??
« on: August 29, 2017, 11:11:22 AM »
I've been reading all these posts on here, and I'm not a mechanic by any means, but on my Super8 50X, I have managed to cut the pink wire on the CDI box which gave me higher top speed (37 downhill). This morning in a desperate attempt I did manage to get the carburator separated on the left hand side (front) and dug around and found a metal washer about the size everyone's been saying, so I took that out and put the carburetor back on. I took it out for a small test drive, couldn't really find any good hills and I have to be at work today, but I didn't seem to have that much more power. Still going 25, creeping up to 30 on flat road. Does this sound right? Did I get the right washer out or am I just removing random parts?
The uphill problem seems to be getting worse and worse. Like I said, I was desperate this morning after backing up traffic at 5mph uphill on the way to work, any worse and I'll have to push it! Am I putting the wrong gas in? I'm just using regular. What do I need to do, or tell a mechanic to do?
