Kymco News / Re: New Kymco Electric Superbike: SuperNEX
« on: December 17, 2018, 03:33:20 PM »
The SuperNEX has a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) time of 2.9 seconds, 0-200 km/h (124 mph) of 7.5 seconds and – for the truly brave – a 0-250 km/h (155 mph) time of 10.9 seconds.

Shouldn't a superbike be able to beat a Tesla? The P100D can do 0-60 in 2.5 seconds and the new roadster is said to do 0-60 in only 1.9 seconds.
The Teslas manage that at the expense of a very heavy car, though it doesn't matter in that case. The equivalent battery packs on a bike would just be too heavy, I think. There has to be a tradeoff somewhere.

This is true. I recently checked out the local Vegas Vespa website. Even their used scooters cost an arm
and a leg. I know Vespa is the Rolls Royce of Scooters. I get it, but even so. I think the customer is paying
more for the brand name than just the model bike. This is my opinion.

Even a bike that could be a good starter bike for a new generationthat would appeal to them like the Van Van 200 has an msrp in the low 4000's, easily 5000 otd.
I honestly think Kymco could sell a lot more Kpipes and Spades in the US, if they just had some advertising and a decent dealer network. Looking at their website lately its clear they are trying to push the inexpensibe motorcycle angle more as well. Maybe the time is right to retry selling the Venox once more, too.

Two rows over, I looked at another 2018 300.
But this one is one thousand dollars less than the Xmax.

Off-brand 'mainland' manufacturer?
Nope.
I saw one of those. it was tempting. The new Rebel 300 doesn't cost much more, maybe a $200, and it looks great too.
I ended up getting a Yamaha VX250. I'd been looking at the SMAX but it just won me over. the only Kymco dealer left in my area has nothing but an Like 200i, so I never bothered to stop by.

This post is firmly in the category of indulgent complaining, so I apologize in advance.

My scooter's engine died last July. At the time I was pretty preoccupied with finding place to live in Arkansas. After falling in love with it, I had been looking for somewhere suitable for quite some time -- endlessly waiting it seemed. I was actually on my way to check out where we finally did move to when the engine died.

Now it's finally warming up again (winter is always difficult to suffer through). And the warmer it gets, the more I'm dying to explore this area on two wheels.

I'm set on a specific bike, the Yamaha XV250, for various reasons: it's air-cooled, has a twin engine, gets 80+ mpg, it's light, basically unchanged for almost 30 years, and elegant looking.

I'm firmly in the reasonably-good-deal used market, and finally have enough money for as much, but there's nothing that qualifies nearby. There's definitely plenty elsewhere in the country... some even good enough to ship in, if they weren't firm on selling locally. So again it's slow waiting.

Deja vous or something. I actually bought an XV250 this week. I got some saddlebags for it, and I am going to get a top case. I agree with you 100%, it is hard getting used loosing storage I have on the Kymco. I love the way the XV250 sits. It's far more comfortable than my Agility. Like you, I have to get reacquainted with the clutch. I've been treating it like an on-off switch in lieu of it not being a rear brake pull. Bad habit I have to kill now.

Fortunately the rear brake on the kymco Agility is a much a joke as the rear brake on this bike. The friction zone on the clutch is almost at the far end of the pull and its not so much a zone as a tiny little area that either works or not. but ill get used to it.

Enjoy putting your key in the left side of the vehicle :D

Welcome back.

Actually did see an Xmax at nearby dealer last week. I think they had just finished readying it for the show room floor when i got there. I wasn't looking to buy one, came for a different bike so I didn't test it. But it looks comfortable. Bigger than I was expecting.

they added two dealers that no longer carry Kymco as of last year in my area and dropped the one that just started. Looks like the imported the database incorrectly. Oh the dealers are gonna love that.

General Discussion / Re: MEMPHIS BELLE & WWII fly-in
« on: November 26, 2017, 08:18:46 PM »
I'm sure the Memphis Belle will not be flown in. It's air frame was certified not fit for aerial flight and wing loading many years ago. There has been a complete cosmetic restoration done recently, but she'll never fly again. Lots of history in that old war bird. I absolutely love military aircraft, especially WW2 planes. I have some 35mm training films on maintaining and flying a B-24. They are not re-makes but actual films used in WW2. The set is not complete, as several are missing.

I lived in Memphis when they had her exposed to the elements on Mud Island. Glad that plane has found a better home.

Just seems like you get a bit more for only $100 msrp more with the 150i. Perhaps people will buy the 200i over the 150 thinking there is some great change in displacement.

Looks like the Kymco web page is finally updated. They dropped a lot of old models but weirdly enough they list both the Like 150i and Like 200i are both listed.

It's still under warranty. Take it back to the dealer and make them fix it. If you know it is not running properly, don't take no for an answer. Call Kymco USA if you need to. I have spoken with them before, and they are pretty helpful.

i can tell you Agility bogged down a little when I first got it. I had to shoot some carb cleaner at it the carb, a few times. Problem resolved, but that was well before its first oil change. If you want to start troubleshooting, check the air filter. Make sure its ok and  that its seated properly.

These scooters are really keen on getting good quality gas. If you can run the tank empty and find some actual 100% no ethanol gas, run that through it. Your carb will love it.

Kymco Spade 150 pdf

Marginal highway speed.  Perhaps similar fate as numerous Honda Groms . . "garage queen" after the novelty wears off!

Or if Kymco manages to market it to MSF in lieu of the new Rebel 300, it could be many people's introduction to riding.

It's a very pretty scooter. If only it could reach SMAX speeds.
