Hi Rasta, I'm no good at answering any of your questions, but I'm definitely willing to say hi!  My scoot has now a whopping 656 miles, with 2 services under it's belt (all per the manual)  So far, so good.  Now I just need to wash it, cause the bugs are coming out and ruining my blue and white :)

Sorry, I've been absent for some time, but I finally had a moment to see what's happening here.  vespbretta, did you paint your luggage white on top, or does it come that way in Europe?  I like seeing all the variations of color schemes :)

Burrrrrrrrrrr.  My mechanic buddy has barred me from tools.  I suppose a flash light would be good, but I have one on my cell phone.  Hmmmm, I need to figure out how to be more Bear Grills with my LIke....

HelloPitty.  Nice to see another person from So. Cal.  I'm in the South OC area.  I just got my 2013 LIke in November and have enjoyed it thus far; 333 miles on it and counting.  I'm learning lots from your questions, cause I've had a lot of the same.  There is really only 3 things I wish I could change about the Like.

Of course, the seat.  Ouch!  Secondly the helmet space under the seat.  I can say my little Honda Met 50 had more space than this bike when it came to helmet storage; full face fit under the seat and in the trunk.  And a push button opening lock on the glove box.  Otherwise, 2 thumbs up!

Did you guys really do the valve check? - Good for you! The valve adjustment is  so darn easy to get at on this particular scooter.
With a buddy operating a motorcylce shop - you are all set!
The Kymco warranty permits you to work on your own scoot - you just can't screw it up.....same as most warranties.
Keep receipts for the oil purchases, etc. and log the work in the back of your manual.(date and mileage)

Thanks, will do.  We found this handy video on YouTube just to confirm what we were doing, but my buddy was confident about the engine work anyways.  Although we didn't use a butter knife, like this Canadian did, Eh.   :P

Dang....the white stuff.  Don't even know what that is here in SoCal.  I was wondering, what, if anything, can those orange voids above the running lights on the front be used for?  I suppose I can see if there is another thread on them, but it would be nice to make them usable?

Just my random thoughts of how to improve my scoot.  And to answer your coffee issue, I mounted a cup holder to my bike.  I'll have to post a pic later, but I basically got a flexible textile cup holder, and mounted it to the plastic placard piece covering the VIN on the floorboard.  It works great.  I can grab a boba tea or some SBX and cruise to work (note, I wear a full face, so I don't drink and ride).  The bottom of the cup rests on the floorboard, so no spills!

There are a Lot of things that can add up to make poor MPG, and the simplest of them all is tire inflation. Maybe we can help you sort it out.
I've got the 2013 Like and tire pressure was a little low on the front and rear when I took it in for it's 200 mile service (22 & 26), but I've since put what I was told of 25F & 29R for no passengers.  I have now 280 miles.  I'm assuming the Kenda tires that are on there are the tires that come on all new Likes?

I actually did not take my scoot to the dealer to get its service.  My best friend owns a motorcycle shop, so he does all of my services on all of my bikes.  We followed the manual and performed all of the required; oil, screen, valve, and drive train.  Of course the inspections, etc.

As for the price, keep in mind I live in California, but I paid OTD was $2696.  I wasn't able to find it any cheaper anywhere within a 200 mile radius with the two-tone color.

I just learned yesterday not to fill past the cross bar.  I came back to a small puddle of fuel on the asphalt.  Lesson learned.  Although I must say, thus far I'm not getting great mileage, or at least what I expected; 80mpg. 

I got 83 miles for 1.3 gallons; however I guess I need to factor in that I did overfill the time before.  I wonder how much fuel that equates to?  .05, .07, .10, .15 of a gallon?

I can say that for the most part I don't drive it more than 48 mph around town, so am baffled why I'm not getting 80mpg?  More like 61  :-\
