You can recut damaged threads, but it won't put material back into a strippout out thread.

Helicoiling would be a possibility - it's where you drill and cut the thread one size up and then screw in a steel thread which then stays in place and provides a metal thread for the original plug to screw into.

Less than a 1/4", I have a sheet of corrugated plastic I use to lie on, so kept fairly dry while popping the exhaust nuts off at the head, used the rear brake adjuster to lock up the back wheel while I cracked the big nut off.  Do lots of work on cars and bikes (of the human powered variety) so tools is not an issue!

Try ebay, range from failry cheap to really tidy.... the leo vince ones are well respected.  Some (most!) don't have the rear hugger support though.

Dead done, wheel off in 5 minutes (not sure whether the snow meant I was faster or slower!), £35 for a new tyre, back on in 3 minutes!

Thanks for that....no experience of any other Scoots but the exhaust takes all of 5 minutes (once it's cool!) and been off a few times recently so should be easy enough! I always copperease the fixings!

As a Scotsman you'll no doubt understand the incentive to save £30 by DIYing the wheel removal ;-)

You need to figure if it's rich or lean first, as above, block off some of the air intake (which will richen it up).

Larger carbs need a bigger jet as they develop a smaller vacuum.

AH has nothing to do with charge rate, deep draw batteries can have the same AH but are designed to be charged/discharged at a much lower rate than a vehicle battery used for cranking.

[Pedant mode]just to clarify it is NOT EGR, EGR puts exhaust gas into the intake system (hence the R for recicrculating) this is secondary air - where air is added to the exhaust to post burn unburnt hydrocarbons in the exhaust, EGR reduces fuel consumption and NOx emissions secondary air reduces HC emissions [/Pedant mode]

To be that cheap I'm willing to bet it's made in China, not Poland, the fact it's coming through Poland isn't really relevant.

Probably OE parts from a Sym or similar, after all most scoots in Asia are 80 not 49cc.

Hi guys, been away a while!

Daughters rear tyre is getting low and she's also having issues with the back stepping out, have been quoted for a new tyre but it includes £30 for the wheel removal and refit so looking to save that £30! Is it as simple as removing the exhaust and then the centre nut and taking it off (possibly backing off the brake first)?

Do the variator boss now, it has no effect on engine rpm (in fact if you run at 30mph/50kph the rpm is slightly LOWER with the boss derestricted) or running in, personally I'd give it at least 200 miles/300km of running in before doing the CDi, but it would probably be fine if you didn't.
