Ok, so I have taken the leap of faith and ordered from Dragon Customs.  Been dealing with Jon, who has been very helpful.  I will post pics once completed...

Being 1,95m I have wondered if this could be done as my knees sometimes get in the way on slow, sharp turns.  I think that looks really nice, and I can just imagine the comfort it must add to the ride!!  ;)

I think I must invetigate whether there is a service provider here that can assist.

Thanks for posting.

I have been driving scoots for 12+ years now as my primary means of transportation, but it has been almost 6 years since I sold my Kawasaki.
It is incredible that this much time has passed.

Do you miss tha Kawa?  I sometimes think that I would not mind getting a Duelie again - but that would mean selling my scoot  :o , which is NOT going too happen  ;D

Hi Brad Currently on caravan trip until end of June in South Australia 800 klm from home. Will take and post pics of our new Like 125s (Red and White) when we get home.  Yeah got all the kevlar gear, gloves helmets etc got to protect fragile bones  Kevneve

Nice! Maybe even include a pic of the trip?  I am in South Africa (I believe that there are more thana few S'Africans there as well), which is both beautiful riding and caravanning country - but I sold my caravan a few years ago. Maybe include a pic of your rig as well  ;)  . Safe Travels...

Thanks Hoolander2 and FSO.  I am also a noob at these things.  Will give it a bit more time as my 6000km servic is not too far away and I will ask them to have a look.  I must say, I am more than a little worried...  :-\

Xciting 500 / Strange Noise??
« on: April 23, 2011, 10:43:22 AM »
I am hoping soem of you technical guys (girls?) can help.  My son and I went for a ride this morning of about 120kms.  This was all on open road, over mountain passes, etc.

The problem came when I stopped to fill up with fuel - and took off again.  In about the last 7 kilometres through suburbia, twice on take off and once on a sharp turn I heard a weird sound coming from the left lower side of the scooter.  It sounded almost like a belt was slipping, but immediatly after this noise, accelleration was normal  ???

I have inspected the bike and found a lot of what looks like brake dust on the left side panels, as well as underneath and on the back wheel - but nowhere near the actual break shoes  ???  I thought it may have something to do with the rubber "wheel" on the centre stand...or something else that may be making contact where it shouldn't.  Oh, and there was a burning smell - but only immediatley after the noise.  :o

I am stumped - but more worried.  Could this be as a result of our combined weight being in the region of just under 170kgs??  I cannot think that I have ever experienced this when riding solo.

Any thoughts would be appreciated...

Hey, thats great.  I also starting riding again after almost 30 years off a bike.  Nearly 3 years now, and I still experience a feeling of nervouse anticipation every time time ride - but that feeling keeps my feet on the ground and VERY wide awake!  ::)  Enjoy!

Not sure if Gates Powerlink is that much better than the stock factory belt. Will probably have to replace it soon!

PS: Any Kymco Riders in Cape Town - South Africa?  Want to get a small group of riding friends.

Hey Joe - I am sure you know where Durbanville is...well thats where I live, and my riding mate (with a Kymco 500) is in Pinelands.  Maybe get together for a ride sometime??  ;D
