Xciting 500 / Re: Picked up my new 500 today
« on: August 23, 2012, 12:31:50 AM »
oldscoot, I like my unit more each time I go out. Whats better yet, each time I go out, I feel better about riding it but I don't ever want to think that I am better than the bike. I have the white unit and riding with the silver helmet, Hi-Rez shirt or vest, it almost looks like the white units that ran with the runners at the Olympics!! I believe they are using BMW's though. I see Tour Master has a Hi-Rez jacket out that is supposedly really special. I don't have the 200 some bucks right now but I'd sure like to own one. I have a white and black aired and padded jacket which is good but I am always looking. Hope you are enjoying your new ride oldscoot...too bad was are not neighbors to ride together a bit. Again I am N.E. of Pittsburgh, PA USA about 23 miles. Still have the problem of not many scooters out on the road here but I'll say one thing I noticed for sure, Many more bikers are using Hi-Rez gear since I started about a year ago. Of course mywife and I own a Green (Alien) KIA Soul and when we purchased ours, noone around had them...now I am seeing them all over!. Further, I've been using the high pressure wash place on my wheels and lower part of the scooter and haven't had a problem in doing this yet. I finalize with the No Spot Spray all over the bike and again, no problems there either. Been using the Honds Clean and Wax spray can and it is coming out really well all over.

Good Luck with your new scoot Oldscoot. I have the single headlight also but not ABS. I've had a great deal of fun with it this summer so far.

Xciting 500 / Re: Service Manual for X500Ri
« on: August 14, 2012, 06:20:05 PM »
Keltyk, Thanks for your response to my post on the manual. I started to get concerned when the only thing I found available for the 2012 Xciting 500Ri was a Japanese version! Well, needless to say, I speak English and the unit was made in China and I am getting tired of all these different languages one has to get used to..Spanish, Japanese, Chinese...LOL. So, you mention electronic addition of this manual...is that a PDF file or??? Yes I would be interested but the next question would be is there any difference in than and now....on this particular model? Again, thank you.

I have a 2012 xciting 500Ri and ordered the SR91, On the paper diagrams it shows "Kymco Xciting R 2009 300i-500i". I also had the SR92 sent to me when I ordered for the 300 i had and it listed on the diagrams "2009 125-300 cc". I found that the (2) spacers included in the SR91 were too long for the mounting to my 500. So, fortunately, I still had all the hardware from the 300 (SR92 kit) and the shorter spacers were just right for the mounting. The spacers for the (SR91 kit) shown on the diagram are "016x50mm--Foro 08,5mm, V502. The spacers in the (SR92 kit) list 020x35mm, V250. These figures are taken right from the diagrams from both mounts. If I may add a WORD OF CAUTION. When you are taking out the long mounting bolts to replace them with the kit bolts, loosen both but only take one at a time out, being you will get a shift of the holes if you take both out at once and will have a problem lining up for the new bolts to secure with. I did everything with mine other than connecting the holding brackets to the upper shock mounts being I didn't have the correct tools or the know how to do that. If the new spacers are too lond as were for me and you can't get 2 spacers as I had from another kit, you may have to cut them down to fit. FURTHER: if you can order the (2) spacers from the (SR92 kit), they are listed as part #7, Q.TYn.2).

I have all my insurance with one agent and the cost isn't too bad. I will eventually check others to be sure what I'm paying for. Attached my paper work and off course all important particulars are blocked out.

I couldn't form a new topic so will just change in the middle of the stream here! I had my first ride today on tarred and chipped roads. Seems like all communities pick a day for this and darn...they are all over. My knuckles are sore from squezzing the handles and each move on the road felt like if you'd make a slight turn..you're going for a ride on the chips. Especially with the roads being beveled, this was really nerve racking, I think I'll wait for the 4 wheelers to smooth these roads down!

I'm sure this makes a big difference.....I live in a hilly area all around and most running is up and down hills. Further, I am 6' 1", 245-250.

Sounds like there are some here that are familiar with gas vs diesel so I'd like to ask...again..only asking because I don't know...I had a gas operated pick up and pulled a trailer with it and it was struggling therefore traded and went to a 3/4 ton diesel. Yes, the 3/4 ton was bigger engine etc. but also it had much more pulling power. Is there a difference in gallon for gallon gas/diesel burn as for power. Most all tractor trailers use diesel and all this conversation has me wondering  about gas per power vs diesel per power. I found it true about one here who mention about mileage using diesel vs gas and when we figured out the value of diesel it wasn't what we thought since we paid anywhere from 50 to 85 cents more a gallon for diesel. I don't know about now but when I was in the service, all the vehicles I knew off used gas. Probably more readily available?? I always thought the diesel engines had less parts or whatever and therefore weren't as prone to break downs..again, I used the work "thought".

"Ditto", as I have done now for 1850 miles! I wouldn't own anything else. I wish my taxes were lower too, but nothing can be done about it!

People make assumptions of what people say such as "pissed" that is really sad that such mentality takes over ones judgement to ridicule others. I am neither "pissed" or sorry for not knowing everything you do.....I regret to say, intelligence, you fall short of.

"Some people don't read up before they by", but than there are people that tend to know everything and come out and sort of remark to others about it. I didn't read up to find out if one can talk about his circumstances etc. here knowing it is a Forum to help people that aren't as knowledgeable as the ones that think they are. Sometimes it's best to contact people by E-Mail instead of waiting for a strong remarks here.

I have approximately 1825 miles on my 500 RI and I filled up and went for a 102 mile ride today at all highway speeds 40-55 mph. When I got back I put in 2.264 gallon in and was shocked on the mileage.... This figured out to be 45.053003 mpg...that's terrible. I use 93 octane since new. I haven't looked at other mileages on here of the 500's and now I think I will. I always thought I may be getting 55 mpg or so but I am surely all wet and very disappointed.
