Fun day had by all eh Stig?  Save me one of those hot sauce burritos  :D

That does not surprise me one bit Randy.

Ahh, thought as much.  As you say though, ridiculously over-complicated.

Sean your perseverance does you credit!  I'm impressed with your tenacity and glad that you got the right result - I'm sure some or all of those tips will be used by others in a similar fix.  Incidentally loved the freezer / heat gun hack!  Way to go.

cool pics and it sounds like a great fund raiser. My heartrate starts climbing quickly at the sight of that many bikes and riders in one parking lot...like you, I'm a solo rider and avoid group rides. Looks like a great day, though.

I'm just like you Hawk and had to steel myself for it given the likely numbers.  I stayed with them for about 75 miles, then peeled off just north of where I live to let my anxieties subside!  Joking, it wasn't too bad as everyone was very well behaved. (I did touch 80 mph at one point on the Motorway, but we quickly reverted to 65-70 mph.)

Replies below Stig.

Pretty cool Neil!

So, this Dave was a celebrity TV chef - who rode a motorcycle?  Yes to both!
And his passing brought out 10's of thousands of riders?  It did indeed.

$$ was raised, how?....for a charity, which?   MORE than £50,000 has been raised for the two charities set to benefit from Dave Day. A target of £15,000 had been set for the two chosen charities - NSPCC* Childline and The Institute of Cancer Research.

This is not that charity ride where you transport a Teddy Bear from station to station?  No, that's next month!
Forgive me Neil - but what was that charity?  Relay Riders of which more at the time!

Anyway - great pictures! and looks like a great time was had by all!
And so many bikes!!! (20K bikes was @ twice the number of people we had in Yellow Springs yesterday for the biannual Street Fair.)

Brave you for riding in such a pack!
Stig

Earlier in the day as I arrived at the Museum, the weather was less bright, in fact my Street Triple was, by now, filthy having been spotless when I set off!  Here are some of the arrivals at the Museum.  Note the Hawaiian shirts, one of Dave Myers' trademarks!

(Stig, I can report that the Oxford RainSeal over-jacket works a treat!)

One of the many bridges over the M6 motorway just north of where I live:

Had an interesting* day out yesterday on the Triumph.  We had a celebrity TV Chef who died recently of cancer and his life was celebrated by over 20,000 motorcyclists who rode from London (the Ace Cafe) to Barrow-in-Furness his home town.  Dave Myers was one half of a duo called the Hairy Bikers and the run was led by his surviving oppo, Si King and it was a moving (literally) tribute.

The guys even made it to the States, at least once:

Still transferring my photos from the day, but in the meantime, here's a couple of links and a photo from another participant:

I joined the ride at the NMM for the ride north.  I never knew  there were so many bridges over the M6.  My arm is tired from all the  waving!!

* Ordinarily I hate riding in large groups and avoid it like the plague.  For this cause however, I made an exception and I'm glad I did.  It was an emotional day.

Thought your Liberty was red Stig?  Oris this a stock photo you've used?  ;)

She gets in and starts turning and back....and backing...and backing....And I say aloud, "not again!" - so I laid on that truck's very loud horn and stayed on it until she finally stopped with the corner of her van an inch or two away from my grill!

I'm a little fed up with this kind of driving.....back-up cameras or no...

Stig

That was me, 5 years ago in my last whoopsie!  Distracted, reversing and clomped straight into the lady parked behind me!  Red face on my part or what?

Worse bike I ever came across for range was a pal's Suzuki TL1000S which had a tank range of 90 miles max when used spiritedly!  We quickly learned where all the fuel stations were in remote areas.

BTW, when googling for the exact model number, I was reminded of the fact it became known as the "Widow maker":  The Suzuki TL1000S was introduced by Suzuki in 1997 in order to compete with the Ducati 916 in World Superbike Championship. A prominent journalist was killed on a TLS during a tank-slapping incident with his wife as a witness. This earned the bike its reputation of a widow maker.

(In a circular twist of fate, it was a Ducati 748 which my pal died on.)

Bit OCD about it I suppose, but I do like to keep track, using the Fuelly App.

:)
(you had that show in the U.K. - what, with subtitles?)

Stig

Could've done with them sometimes!  But no, the only character that lost me with his dialogue sometimes was Mick Belker (Bruce Weitz).

Shame Stig, but you acted commendably sanguine there?

Loved the Hill St. Blues reference!

That's the one thing I dislike about my new ('23) People S 150. The fuel tank is only 1.6 gallons. Supposed to get 80+ MPG, but it's still not broken in yet. I'm always topping it off way before the gage is that low.

My experience with new Kymco engines is that you need to reach c3,000 miles before you hit peak mpg?
