General Discussion / Take my Camera, Water Bottle on My Scooter and:
« on: October 06, 2012, 12:20:01 AM »
I headed for one of the parks today and shot some birds. The Bald Eagle and the bird in the upper right corner (unidentified) which is bluish looking. Taking the scooter makes it easy to get around and on a nice day as today was..you can't beat it. The Eagle and the other bird were shot at approximately 1/2 mile away and blown up.

General Discussion / Re: New guy; new Kymco

I have to warn you.....I started with a 250 than to a 300 and now settled in with a 500RI, Kymco Exciting. I never thought I would be on a bike again. My wife made a comment.."you don'[t have to ride it everyday you know". What she must have meant by that was, it will be there tomorrow or days later you know! Oh Well!

You guys sent chills through me being I felt more than just a read on your mishaps. Years ago, I was drug 35-50 yds on the turnpike due to a front tire blow-out at 65-70 mph. According to state police that was the distance of the start at blowout to stop. Hope you don't mind here but all I want to to say is never use a new tire if it sat in very hot roof rafters after about 4-5 years. Such as even one post I read on here about one using a tire that looked flawed next to the rim. ....get rid of it..go new..with best you can buy. I can feel all this bad mishaps people report along with all the bike deaths on the roads anymore. Be safe everyone..expect the unexpected.

I failed to mention and I'm not saying this is so with your tires...please understand. Some of the area on the tire that blew as I remember looked very sinilar to what you are showing. That is not normal for sure or all tires would show that or at least many others of the same brand. Wished I knew what you see and know.

Years ago on a large bike on the turnpike going 70 the front tire blew, it was new never used before. After 4-5 years sitting in the rafters of a hot gararge not know was that the tire had sarted dry rotting enough to build up pressure and blow. I can give a accident report here from state police and me but it bothers me to even think about it. Whenever there is a tire question all I can say is get rid of it or them and go new. I was very very lucky.

I am laughing ! and seriously thinking about some of the input. Heard nothing as of yet but I will save the towel, good idea, thanks. Been hungry for pepperoni though, I don't think that means anything !! With the area this truck went through town, I am sure there has to be some complaints from businesses and or auto owners etc. Thanks for the input.

Xciting 500 / New dangerous experience yesterday.
« on: September 29, 2012, 11:26:17 AM »
Stopped at a light, a bucket truck comes from my left turning to his left. Light turned, I happened to be first behind the truck. What I thought was large volume of exhaust fumes blowing out behind him, I quickly noted it was a white fine powder. Backing off quickly and slowing traffic behind me, I noted my leather jacket was covered with this unknown white stuff. Looking over the bike, it too was covered as well as a coating of it on my pull down face mask. I was about a block behind him and looking at him still blowing off an unknown substance. I turned off to my destination, parked and had to take
a towel out of my box and start wiping all this stuff off everywhere. Yes, I was pissed enough to go home, contact the police
department and was asked to contact the mayor, which I did. The mayor was very concerned about my report and was to follow up on all this. In looking up the trucking firm on the internet, I phoned them with a answering service and only left a phone number but never received a return..this was prior to calling the mayor. No end here to this story yet but I will put in here whatever the results will be. No, I couldn't see whether the bed was covered which is the law. Big Concern here too, what did I breath in???

I can agree with throwing things over the shoulder or some sort of a deterent but than again....this is of course 2012 and there are many drugies and dopies out there that carry guns (illegal) and otherwise and........ One thing I know for sure, if they had law enforcement on the highways constantly, the amount of tickets they can give would actually support their
salary or wage without affecting the budget or other needed police services. Trouble with police enforcement on the highways is that they perform it when there is nothing else pending to do. That doesn't cover nothing. Than when a Holiday comes up they go out in force, hide, plain vehicle etc. I have nothing against the law enfocement, I was in it, problem is as I said, only when they feel like it. A particular area may have but one ticket given in a few months or year only. Like everything else, you hire more police and they find some other damn thing for them to do other than real police duties. Sometimes I wish my scooter was loud such as a Harley due to the people that don't want to see them and than I have a fraction of a chance more...not much..but....

Xciting 500 / Where in the h_ _ _ did it come from?
« on: September 26, 2012, 11:32:40 AM »
My experience that never goes away.....getting on a road, noone in view anywhere, looks like a comfortable ride keeping with the speed limit and not in a hurry. The great feeling of nothing pushing you and thoroughly enjoying the great day ride.
All of a sudden, you look in the mirror, you see a car or truck right behind you and..."where in the h_ _ _ did it come from"? I saw nothing anywhere and it's almost like it was there before but you never saw it. Now, the ride is not comfortable anymore being the A_ _  _ _ _ _ behind you is way over the speed limit and getting close enough to you to just about push. Instantly it P_ _ _ _ _ me off swearing to myself wishing you can do something about thisw idiot behind you. "Road Rage", yep, but you can't do a damn thing about it being on 2 wheels. If the police want to book and or arrest those speeders and idiots on the road, wish they could all get on a undercover bike and do their thing....Anyyone agree?

I had my 500 for about 6 months or so. Like a Lion growing up! My growl is ever present and louder plus seemingly to have a certain amount of vibration along with that. Actually, sort of embarassing for a big unit like this.

I know people are way ahead of me and a question I failed to ask on here...where does one look to determine what sex your unit is in order to name it!!! Just a bit of humor!
