General Discussion / Whining noise when accelerating - video attached
« on: August 03, 2015, 11:10:31 PM »
Anyone know what this noise may be coming from?

I've never paid attention to it, but has recently had me concerned.

Heres a video of me riding and you can hear the whining noise.

Hey everyone,

I've been noticing that my Kymco People 150 is making whining noises when accelerating or decelerating between 20-40 mph. It isn't causing any performance problems but I do want to figure out whats going before anything gets worse.

I've done a recent oil change and transmission fluid change (less than 1k miles). Filled it the correct amount(not to the bolt).

I bought it a while back and I'm sure its due for a belt replacement soon as well, so it may have something to do with that.

Let me know!

General Discussion / Tuning people 150
« on: July 10, 2015, 09:36:04 PM »
Hello Everyone,

My scooter has been running a little funky lately. Seems like it needs to be adjusted for the new environment it is now in. I moved from a dry central California to southern california next to the water, so it's much more humid and wetter air here.

Can someone please link some tuning instructions/tutorials to me. It seems the air/fuel needs to be adjusted because the scooter seems to be running rich based on the slight backfiring happening when i slow down. I've tried adjusting the idle screw, but it can't seem to find the best setting. I either set it too low and after warm up, it dies in idle. or when i set it too high, the scooter moves on it own without any applied idle.

Thanks!

General Discussion / Roller upgrade for People 150,need advice
« on: July 02, 2015, 10:18:07 PM »
So I have a completely stock Kymco People 150 and I'm getting close to the time where I am going to replace my belt and might as well upgrade the rollers.

If I am not mistaken, the people 150 comes stock with 14g rollers. Which ones should I look into upgrade to?

Most roads around me require a top speed of 50-55mph. Currently, the top speed on the scooter is enough, but seems like it works overtime to maintain high speeds.

I would appreciate all input and advice. Also, if you have any suggestions on where to purchase from, please leave a link.

General Discussion / How much insurance needed for my Kymco 150?
« on: April 28, 2015, 08:53:53 PM »
Hello everyone.

I just purchased a used Kymco People 150 and need to buy insurance on it. How much insurance do I really need for this scooter?

Should I be looking at comprehensive coverage? etc...

I purchased it for less than $700.

Also, I am in California so I must have insurance.

Any suggestions and recommendations for insurance companies is much appreciated.

thank you

People 150 / New owner of People 150, need suggestions/hints and tips.
« on: April 10, 2015, 11:58:56 AM »
Hello everyone!

I am now a proud owner of a Kymco People 150. I love it! Does exactly what I need it to do, and is perfect for where I live and the distances I commute.

I want to ask you all for any suggestions for a first time moped owner.

The moped has 5k(8000 km) miles on it, so first thing I did was change Motor Oil, transmission oil, general cleaning, new fuel line hose(previous one was a little beat up), seafoam(inside the tank).

Anything else I can do to make sure this thing runs 100% ?

Also, any suggestions on improving safety and make sure I am seen on the road? Especially at night time, since the moped is entirely black with some chrome trim.

Thank you!
