Agility 50 / fuel consumption
« on: June 08, 2009, 02:50:03 AM »
Today I carefully measured the gas used to warm the engine and travel a fairly level countryside 27 mile tour.  I use hightest gas which cured the difficult warm-engine startup, but found the consumption to be rather disappointing.  Some claims would have left me to believe that I should have gotten close to 100 MPG.  I figure to have actually gotten about 62MPG.

I am curious to know what others experience.

Bad news to those who would try too fast a turn.  Know the side and bottom clearances of your scooter.  Saw one put out of commision two days ago with a bent wheel rim, etc.  Driver was lucky.  He walked away from it.

The driver's manual sez: "be sure to use 92#or 95# non leaded gas" ??? ???...My dealer, when asked sez "Just use regular non-leaded or what ever"....Has anyone here ever really followed this one up?

Another little bump is the engine oil which the manual sez to use SAE15W40 API: SF  ??? ???...Which in my area seems imposible to get in the quart size container......Again, when asked, the dealer sez "Just use the SAE10W40, it's almost the same thing"?

Anticipating your obvious answer, this is the one and only dealer in my area.
Maybe his advice is golden, I don't know. .....Again, does anyone else here really have a handle on this?  If he used this rather cavalier attitude about setting up scooters for sale, it might be the answer to my restarting problem posed several days ago on this forum.

Thanks for any light you may shed on this.

Agility 50 / problem restarting a warm engine
« on: May 16, 2009, 07:22:58 PM »
Ater ten miles I stopped and shut off the engine for about ten minutes.  Then had difficulty restarting it to continue my trip.  I held the starter button for five seconds intervals several times as recommended in the instructions without results.  I finally got it started without touching the gas by holding the starter down for about ten seconds.   At that point the engine was racing like crazy, so I let the starer go and discovered that the engine was running.  Normally I cold start by twisting the accelerator grip once or twice and it starts right away when I press the starter button.
I was afraid to shut off the engine for the remainder of the trip not knowing if I would run into the same problem again.
It is a new scooter having run only 160km.
Can anyone explain what caused this problem and what I should do if it happens again......Thanks

I bougth a "standard" type touring windshield that was designed to fit any of several model scooters.  It used (only) the two mirror holes for support, and after making minor adjustments I clamped it down as good as possible.
On the smooth road it seemed to hold up well enough, but any older road with some bumpyness loosened it up and made it unmanageable and I had to keep tightening it.
I need to find a windshield that has a more secure way to attach to the scooter than just those two holes.  Looking at the ads it's hard to tell how they connect.  www.heeters.com/pa.shtml offers #KY-991 that I like, but I don't know how well it fits.
Has anybody found a good one?
