General Discussion / Re: Back end vibration from X-iting 400

Yeah, sorry I didn't get a more detailed set of symptoms but as I say I'm helping the Warranty Dept of Kymco UK so don't shoot the messenger.

It's probably the tyre but it could be the drive or the engine vibrating under load until it smooths itself out but if it is why does the owner suggest it's coming from the back ?

That would transmit itself through the chassis not the tail.

I don't know as I'm just throwing it out there as someone may have noticed something similar.

Sorry it wasn't more detailed.

I'll try harder next time.

Yup I agree with you. They aren't going to be changing much, not even changing the sliders so it's a bit of a pickle.

Thanks for your help.

Whatever the OEM tyre is. Probably as Maxxis tyre as it's only done 1000 miles.

It went in for it's initial service and now vibrates from the back.

Sadly it's not my bike so I'm just trouble shooting.

What do you think ?

Has anyone experienced a vibration from back end of low mileage X-iting 400's ? Gen 1

It's not tyre related.

Give us an email on twobells333@gmail.com

Thanks

Thank you for your support guys. I really appreciate it.

If anyone has any contacts at Kymco in the US or Canada I'd like to approach them about a Coast to Coast in 2018.

Thanks again.

General Discussion / Ironbutt's 9 and 10
« on: July 29, 2017, 08:32:04 AM »
Good Morning All.

Last weekend I completed two more ( and my final ) Ironbutt Rides on a standard Downtown 300i

Ride one was from Calais in Northern France to Valencia in Southern Spain, riding a total of 1070 miles in a time of 21,00 hours exactly.

Ride two was the reverse but totalled a mileage of 1092 miles in 21 hours and 58 minutes.

The Downtown performed brilliantly but I suffered a little as it threw it down with rain for most of the way home.

I couldn't have picked a better bike to do it on.

Right, what's next ?

Stig that's awesome work. Let me get my arse into gear and I'll get the payment sorted out asap.

Granted the heat shield connected with a kerbed roundabout/circle within days of owning it but today was just impatience.

Saw a gap opening up, went for it and crunch, it wasn't wide enough.

I'm an ex London Dispatch Rider so old habits die hard.

Because I keep forgetting just how wide my Downtown is I've now managed to balance up the my damaged exhaust heat shield by damaging my belt drive cover on the opposite side.

Both times by mashing them against a kerb while filtering !

Even though I'm in the UK I plan to visit the US in late November so is there anyone over there who could 1 quote me prices to replace both bits and 2 ship them to Florida by the 3rd week of he aforementioned month ?

Thank you.

(I'll learn to ride this thing one day)

Lucky I'm only 5ft 8in so everything just flips right over my head.

Talking of seats - the worst one of all belongs to the Honda NC700 which is worse than sitting on a wooden bench.

I lasted an hour and a half then had to get off. It was agony.

No such problems with the Downtown.

The reason I'm asking is that I destroyed one at 2500 miles at around that speed.

Strokes chin.

Thank you.

Does the Xciting 500 share the same drive belt as the Downtown 300 ?

And if it isn't would a Downtown 300 belt last 3000 miles running between 60 and 80 mph and nothing less ?

OK , People 300 it is then.
