how tall are you and how does it handle the highway now with this screen?

I am 5'6" but only have a 29" inseam so my height is more in my body than legs. It has really improved the ride quality of this bike immensely for me, like a whole new ride!
I have only had the bike up to 60MPH (indicated) with the new screen but it was very stable. I see no reason will not work well to the top of my scoots speed range.

Nice job! We got the Puig Urban for wife's GTi300 and found the same bracket problem, one hole 8 mm and one 10 mm. Both needed to be 10 mm. Solved that with the Dremel.

How odd that we both had that issue. Can't see why they would be packed that way unless Euro scoots have two different size mirror bolts?

Installed a Puig Traffic on my GT this week. Had to get it from Italy as Puig USA doesn't have it and has no plans to. The Traffic is the smallest windscreen Puig offers for our 300's. It is not a universal. As any of us that have tried to find screens for these bikes know the pickings are mighty slim!

The design of this scoot without a windscreen was very problematic for me. Anything over 20 miles an hour I had to keep my face shield down or road grit went directly into my eyes. The little wind deflector sent everything directly into my head. At freeway speeds, even with ear plugs, the noise was deafening. Turning my head, to check blind spots, was nearly impossible.

So, as much as I didn't want to pay shipping from Europe, I also did not want a tall screen, that I had to look through and blocked to much wind. Took a month to get it and I wouldn't say installation was easy. One of the brackets was wrong. The hole was not the right size and needed to be drilled out. There were no instructions, only a picture. The parts list was in Italian and included far more items than I received, though it had what I needed for the install.

Once fitted up it works wonderfully and was worth the trouble. The plastic seems high quality and edges are finished nicer than any other windscreen I have owned.

I can sort of understand the urge to drive between the cars (slowly) when the traffic is completely stopped.

But lane splitting just seems inherently dangerous to me. Cars change lanes all the time without signaling, and it's not usual for them to move to the edge of their lane. Also, the markings on the road offer much less traction. And suddenly the amount of road available to you becomes very narrow. If you assume you're invisible, how could driving between the cars be safe?

Moreover, lane changes and merging on the highway are scary and stressful enough under normal circumstances. I have no desire to do it more, and I imagine it being much worse when you're lane splitting.

When I moved to California it seemed crazy and dangerous to me also. When I started riding and studying it closer it started making much more sense.
I spent far to many years commuting, on the freeway, into downtown LA. Traffic is often stop and go and cars failing to stop in time and hitting the car in front of them happen far to often. That is one of the reasons we feel that being between lanes of traffic can be safer. At least we don't end up in a sandwich.
On the freeway riders will typically split between the fast lane and 2nd lane over. The fast lane is often a carpool lane with limited access. Drivers are only supposed to move into the car pool lane at certain points. Of course they could drive over "double yellow" line at any time but we hope they won't.
We should not be on the painted stripes. Technically we should to be in the lane. I have been in Q&A sessions with CHP officers and they have made it clear that they will ticket you for riding on the double yellow line.
Also, keep in mind, that California's urban drivers are pretty accustomed to the practice. I certainly wouldn't say all of them like it, but they maybe more aware of motorcycles. It isn't uncommon for drivers to notice me and attempt to move over a bit to make room for me to pass.

I want a Trafic or urban windscreen but haven't been able to find them in the US.  Shipping from Europe really adds to the cost! Best I've gotten from Puig is they might start importing them in September, all we have now is the TS. If you don't mind, where did you get yours from?

I never ride in the right lane on the freeway unless I am just entering or getting off. Cars constantly cutting through that lane make it way to risky. I usually stay in the far left, "carpool" lane or the lane next to that. Speed wise I will match the car in front of me or ride just slightly faster that surrounding traffic. I prefer to be in front.
I also split and filter when traffic is stopped or stop and go.
What might seem "crazy" in some areas of the country is the norm here in California and actually keeps us safer.

Thanks deedah. It looks like Puig has 4 different size shields that will fit the GTs. Does your attach to your bike at the mirrors?
Any chance you could post a close up picture of it?

I have a McCuff I use to fill my Bonneville.  It doesn't have the bar but there is a similar issue with having to pull the vapor boot back and fill carefully or it overflows. It is just a piece of rubber, nothing fancy.
https://www.mccuff.com/store/
Tried it with my GT and because of the bar it isn't long enough to work. Seems if you could find something the right length it might work? Not sure how far the nozzle needs to be in the tank. On the Bonnie it works perfect, pump shuts off with no splash or over filling.
Filling wouldn't bother me so much if we didn't have to deal with the vapor boots here. By the time I am done my hands are always dirty and smell of gas.

Funny, where I am, cars seem afraid to get to close behind me at lights. I wonder if they think I am going to spontaneously combust or something.  ::) I lane split regularly, hate sitting at the back wondering if the next driver is paying attention or will just come crashing into me.

What top case do you have on your scooter? Did you have to build a mount for it?

People GT 300i / New owner need top case and windscreen info

Hello everyone I just got a 2014 GT 300i and could use some help with a couple little mods.

First I want to replace the stock top case.
I have a 45L Givi Monolock that I swap between two of my other bikes but it looks like it will take some serious work to get a monolock plate to bolt up to the rack on the GT.
Are there any large top cases that easily bolt onto the rack of this scoot?
I see Kymco has the 45 & 48L cases listed as accessories for this model that come with a with a plate. Are these a good fit?
I don't care about lights and such just looking for storage.

Next the windscreen. I don't really need anything large but currently it seems the air flow (and road grit) come off the little fly screen and catch me right in the eyes. If I could just move up the air a couple more inches I'd be fine. I'm finding very little available, anyone got a solution?
Thanks!
