I wanted to see which of the 3 vehicles I own would be the most efficient. Now most people I talked to believed the Electric would be most efficient. I had a 2014 BMW I3 electric. In order to go 100 miles in the electric I found out it would take about 27kwh of power. To determine the cost per KWH I broke down my electric bill with National Grid by taking all charges based on the number of KWHs used for the month.The cost per KWH is $0.252. Gas is currently $2.799. My car gets 30 mpg on average, calculated by Fuelly. My scooter gets as much as 70 mpg.

BMW I3 =  27KWH X $0.252 PER = $6.80            COST PER 100 MILES

CAR  = 100/30 = 3.333 GAL X $2.799  =  $9.33                 "

SCOOT = 100/70 = 1.43 GAL X $2.799 = $4.00                   "

Sorry for the delay, I thought I answered the question which is yes. The M6-1.00 x 12 is the bolt to hold the sensor in place. I also put a little thread lock on the bolt. The speedo works fine.

I thought the M6-1.00 -12 was going to be to big and to short but it's the correct one. Thanks for the help.

I'm told I need a 6x12 bolt.

I just took a closer look at the sensor and discovered that it slides in and out easily and upon a closer look I'm missing a tiny screw that holds the sensor in place. Anybody know the size of the screw?

The black box looks very clean, like a new bike and is very close to the slotted disk. The wire I wrote about comes of a wire harness that runs up the right side of the bike. There is one other wire coming off that harness that has a yellow/white wire and a green wire plugged into another wire. Is it a bad sensor?

People GT 300i / SPEEDOMETER HALF WORKS
« on: March 30, 2019, 11:22:29 AM »
I bought a 2017 People GT 300i last fall used with only 124 miles on it. I got such a good deal on it I bought it sight unseen from a dealer who says it is still covered under a 2 year warranty until July 2019. I took it out yesterday and I noticed the speedometer wasn't working properly. When I turn on the bike the needle does a full swipe. When I drove it the needle wouldn't go over 15 mph at first and eventually not at all. I looked under the bike and noticed a connector with 2 green wires plugged into not connected to anything, just sitting on top of the plastic dirt protector. Does anyone know where that connector plugs into and if it has anything to do with the speedometer. Green I think is ground. It might worked it's off. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.

People GT 300i / Re: Larger Front Tire

Is there any consideration to the width of the rim? Any chance of the tire pealing off the rim while leaning into a corner if the tire is to wide?

The rim size is 16x3.0 which according to the chart below the biggest you should go is 120x80-16.

People GT 300i / Re: How much gas do I have left when ....
« on: July 03, 2016, 03:47:51 PM »
I can go about 85 to 90 miles before my last bar blinks and the low fuel light comes on. Because of the short range of the bike I keep a 5 gal can of gas in my garage and before I go anywhere of any distance I will top it up using a battery powered siphon. My guess is that I am getting around 65 miles per gal which is about 156 miles on 2.4 gal. OBTW I weigh around 220 and here in central Mass there are some hills so I will err on the side of caution and fill up or seek the next opportune time to fill up before I hit 100 miles.

I believe for the tender to work the outlet has to be live when the bike is shut off. When I tested my outlet it went off when I turned the key off.

Thanks for the info. I've never had Metzlers but I will consider them when I replace these. Sounds like I should have my tires balanced soon before my tires get cupped. I expect to get between 6 and 8K miles out of the back and 10-12K out of the front. 3K out of a front tire is not good. I'm just about to put it away for the winter. I went out yesterday and that might be the last of the nice mid 50s day we will have before the snow falls here along the Mass/NH boarder. Once we get a little bit of snow the towns start dumping sand and salt on the roads so even if it melts right a way the roads will be a mess until the spring.

General Discussion / Re: Parking Brake
« on: November 05, 2015, 01:03:32 PM »
If you need a parking brake with 2 wheels your in trouble. Inclines, being in 1st gear

These scooters have CVT transmissions, there is no first gear compression to hold the bike.

No to pot holes or anything else. What I'm feeling is, I think, a slight out of balance. I will bring it in after the winter when I get 600 miles on it for the first service. I was planning on doing the oil and filter changes my self, but I will have the dealer do it and check the front wheel balance. The bike did have 19 demo miles on it.

I have MAXXIS tires on the bike and over 35 mph I start to feel a shake or bounce so that is why I was thinking balance, but this bike did sit around all summer so I don't know if it could have formed a flat spot? Smooth as glass it is not.

This scooter is the first small bike I've owned and the first single cylinder bike I've owned I'm noticing a slight bounce or shake in the front wheel around 40 mph on smooth road surfaces. The bike is new and now has 100 miles on it so before I bring it in I thought I would see if anyone else has noticed it in their scoot?
