Title: walmart selling scooters
Post by: Stig / Major Tom on September 23, 2018, 02:56:45 PM
Nearly fell over this the other day at Walmart while shopping for unnecessary plastic items.(https://i.postimg.cc/L5nQ3CFk/20180919_112224.jpg)

I sat on it to hear the suspension bottom out. It did, nicely.
Born June, 2018 to Mr & Mrs Geely, Zhejiang St., Akron.

Did not know that. I think it is a good thing.
Wish they would start selling Vespa, Kymco, Genuine, and others.
The more access scooter lovers have the better.
IMHO, a huge problem with scooter sales in the US is distribution and sales. Dealers dropping scooter sales all together, not having competent service departments, etc.
I`ll give an example: Years ago, me and the wife bought Kayaks for pleasure and fishing.
We were about the only ones on the lakes and rivers using Kayaks. Seldom would we see others in Kayaks. Now they are everywhere. If products are made available, people will buy them. Even Walmart sells Kayaks now. When we bought ours, only sports shops sold them, at top dollar, I might add.
ps: Never heard of or seen a Coleman scooter

I saw some Coleman minibikes at Walmart recently.

The problem with buying a scooter at Walmart is where would you go if you had a warranty issue or needed parts?  Do you think Walmart would help you with either?

FWIW . . the Coleman website page (https://www.colemanpowersportsusa.com/products/50cc-scooter) and video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kmo5fmSjOAw) reference front and rear disc brakes.  NOT seeing any indication of a rear disc brake . . only one handlebar reservoir for front disc.  Rear wheel parts diagram (http://shopping.na3.netsuite.com/s.nl/c.3546502/sc.27/category.139352/ctype.SS/SS.139352/.f) shows typical drum.

Yeah, I was trying to see what was back there when I saw the one reservoir......but would've involved laying on the floor. Since I  was not buying, wasn't motivated enough for calisthenics.

139QMB rear-disc-brake configurations seem somewhat rare.  One example is the Motorino Supremo 50cc (http://www.scootersus.com/motorinosupremo.html).

Clear imitation of Honda Metropolitan, what sh**e!  In a landfill within a couple years, I think.
Why do people buy this crap?

Wasn't Coleman famous many years ago for making quality camping gear?  Seems like they have gone down the road of cheap Chinese goods.

They sold the Schwinn scooters on their web page a few years ago probably the same scoots with new labels.

I have a one year old Coleman BBQ and I'm pretty sure it was made in China.  I suspect the company has been bought out and now has an overseas owner.  Just like Lambretta...

Yes, unfortunately a few good companies are like that now.

Looks very much like the Boatian BT49QT-11 or the Znen ZN50QT-A. Both solid little machines. I owned one and it was a trooper.

You can't go reaaaally all that wrong with 139QMB 50cc scooters...

The main problem with these is that the indicator mounting stalks snap and the leg shield is kind of snappable, but the answer is just not to crash it really.

wont be seeing those in the stores here in Ontario anytime soon. Every store that wanted to sell them would need an OMVIC Licence. Looks nice.

I say hurray, it's about time.  Walmarts in Mexico have been selling scooters and small bikes for years, and they're EVERYWHERE.  Yeah, it's a cheap little Chinese scooter, but how many people are gonna get one and find out how awesome scooters are?  Remember when they sold small Japanese bikes at the hardware store?  When you could order one from Sears or Monkey Wards?  For how many of us was that our first ride?  Yeah, you go Walmart, sell the crap outta them things.  We need more bikers.
