Josh here from the sunny state of FL. I'll start by saying that I've been maintaining my own machines for 30 years, so I know my way around an engine. I've always had chain driven sport quads though, my only CVT is on my Rhino, and I've never owned a Kymco. I just bought an 09 MXU300 as an upgrade for my son for a steal. It's super clean and starts right up, but will only go into reverse. I pulled the linkage off and shifted the transmission by hand. It would still only catch reverse. When the machine is off, I can put it in H or L by hand and feel/hear the transmission spinning. Neutral works fine. If I hand shift it into H or L when running, it rolls like it's in neutral. If I add throttle, there is no noise or movement. If I roll it forward or back with slight throttle while in gear and running it sounds like something is binding. I'd appreciate any suggestions before I start tearing it apart!

Not ignoring you. I don't think anyone has taken one apart yet. Airshot may have.

Hey, any response is a start...I appreciate it! From what I see, it's the same engine as the Arctic Cat Alterra 300. I've been looking at some fiche, I'll probably pull the gear case tomorrow and have a look. I know the linkage is off a bit because it would light neutral in reverse, but that doesn't explain not grabbing a gear with the linkage off.

I have a Mxu150 just started this issue, seems to be stuck in reverse like the linkage shfted... I have to put it in forward to get to neutral now. Did you ever figure out your problem?
