Title: Dr Pulley Update
Post by: big blue on July 27, 2017, 09:41:53 PM
I went out today to do a shake down run on the new belt and Dr. Pulley slider installation. There is a definite increase in performance with the sliders. I notice more down low pull at start and I saw an indicated 66mph top speed with a slight down hill. The scooter will now pull 55mph at an easy cruise. The 20-30mph range there is slightly more revs but not excessive. I realize that part of the top end may be the new belt but 66mph was never attainable before with rollers when the scooter was new. So far I'm a Dr. Pulley fan! ;D

Hi, what are the weight of the sliders that you fitted.

I installed 13gm sliders. The stock rollers were 14gm but my local seller suggested 1mm less due to the Dr. Pulleys ability to ride higher up in the variator ramp.

Let us know how the mpg plays out.

Will do, I hope the new found speed doesn't lead to too many "flat-on-the tank" runs, haha!

Here is an update on the fuel mileage with my newly installed Dr Pulley sliders. I'm still getting approximately 70-80 MPG with the setup depending on the speeds I'm doing. I still am impressed by the overall performance that the sliders give.  ;)

Good to hear.  Seriously thinking about getting them fitted as well.  I had sent an email off to find the recommended size for my LIKE 125 and their response was this:

Hello,

stock rolls have probably size 18x14 with each 14g
In this case we recommend SR1814/6-12,5 or (if you are heavy) -12
Sliding pieces SP1814-H

Best regards
Dirk

That's great you are still getting the mpg range you have before the Dr Pulley install. Now you can have your cake and eat it too.

I'm loving the extra torque and at 50-55mph there is still some pull.

Is it smoother in take off as well.

The clutch engagement is still as smooth as before but the engine does spin up more at launch. I am getting used to needing a little less throttle for take-off.

I was out with the Like 200i LX today and have reached about 200 miles with the new belt and 13gm Dr. Pulley sliders. I really can now HOLD 60 MPH indicated and will do 66MPH. It's like adding a 5th gear to a 4-speed gearbox!

That really is good.  Looks like they will be a future upgrade for me.

I know it's bringing this one back from the dead a bit, but it seemed excessive to start a new topic.

I've just placed an order on www.drpulley.de (http://www.drpulley.de) as well; I wasn't able to afford the rollers (approx £40, $58) but I could afford the sliders, which will go in to support the sliding weights I now have on order from China for £6.50. I'll let you know how I get on!

DrPulley really strike me as a company that needs some help; if the product is good as people here seem to think. Their shipping around Europe is really cheap, which I appreciate, but the website is amazingly poor!

It looks like they need some good distributors.

be careful on the variator you use.. I had install dr. pulley sliders into Malossi variator and it didn't work well for a long time.. In the beginning, everything was good but after 2000km sliders inside the variator turned and it stuck.. we opened the CVT, checked everything, installed it back properly and it happened again again.. Then i read somewhere that malossi variator and dr. pulley rollers can't work together.. I don't know but I just ordered one set for my kymco 100cc and will use stock variator

anyway, for those who feel any issue in transmission, just take a look on rollers first ;)

might be, or not, I dont know, I have only one experience with it, and it is with Bet&Win 250 engine ;)

Looking forward for other experiences :)

Thanks for the tip. I was planning to stick with the standard variator but replace the inner hardware; rollers and bushes.

The rollers I have at the moment seem to be working fine; I remember when riding 50cc 4-stoke Chinese scooters the amazing difference the right setup can make, however!

I'll report back when I've received them to fit :)

I now have about 1200 miles on the DP sliders and the setup is still working well. These  were installed in the original variator with no other change other than a new belt. My scooter had 8000 miles at the time of installation of the sliders.

good to hear that it works good with original variator!! :)
Guys, are there the same roller weights in Like 200i and Agility 200i?

Yes I checked out a couple of sellers and it seems both come with 18x14x14gram rollers.

My Like came with 14 gm rollers and when I went to Dr Pulley sliders I changed to 13 gm.

I did too. Vivo told me a 13gm Dr.P. acts like a 14 gm roller.
I found the revs too high for my 35 mph cruises. Went to 14gm DrP's. They haul me around just fine.
Haven't done a salt-flats speed run since I was trying an Italian TuneUp* to fix the failed TPS.....so have no idea what my top is.
