Title: Others
Post by: Redk on June 10, 2017, 04:33:47 AM
I am a price shopper.  Can't resist a deal.
Or a challenge !

Pic 1 shows the bms federal 50 as I got it.  I do have the plastic panels.
Pic 2 shows part of why I got it...
Near as I can tell it is a Zhongneng !  :-)
Which translates to GY6 engine parts.
It is a 2012 model that was won by a lucky fellow in a PR contest.
He managed to ride it 1 whole mile before it failed to re-start.
It has been hacked at by any number of mechanics over the last 5 years and been a burden, in storage.

No real clues why it will not start and run.
Should be fun to play with for a while !

Fortunately a basic scooter isn't rocket science. Probably just needs some better quality parts than it was made with.

MJR, That could very well be the case...  I just don't know yet.

I've been doing a bit of 'armchair engineering' over the tale it came with, and think I might have a chance of resolving it's failure.

...that contest I mentioned involved a Lot of alcohol, and the garage it was stored in had harley riders hangin out, so I'm sure they did not ever consider it seriously...

ATM, all I will say is I feel there is a strong possibility the problem lies with a 'key feature' advertised for the 2012 bms Federal 50.
It's still got teats on both tires, no scuffs or dents from crashes, and the seat looks as good as a dusty old seat can.

I've been watching these crime stories on the tv...  who-dunnit kinda things, mostly grizzly, absolutely horrid circumstances defying solution.

I am a much happier person sitting there with the tv off, considering my options with that little 50 scooter !

Right or not so much so, I'll post further clues in a day or so...

Harley riders, booze...scooter, unchaperoned...drain the urine out of the tank and try with fresh gas.

There is a possibility all the above...

on 2nd thought, no...  fuel filler under locking seat.

1 more clue...  1 broken lever...  it apparently was tipped over while sitting there, over the years.

I bought a Chinese scooter once from a dealer. No one get it to run. Paid almost nothing for it. Turns out that , in the builders zeal to make it "look" good. when they sprayed the fuel tank,  and had not bothered to mask off the fuel outlet nipple. It had a film of paint over the hole and the gas had not dissolved it. Probably not your problem, as it would not have ran a mile. mainland Chinese products are shoddy workmanship and shoddy materials. (except for a few) Lets us know what stopped yours. Good luck Red.
