I'm kinda felling the same with Brexit over on our side of the pond. At first, I hated the idea, but now? I say let's go for it.

When you have a spokesperson for the president of the United States wrap up a lie in the Orwellian phrase "alternative factsâ€â€¦

when you have a President stand before the stars of the fallen CIA agents and boast about the size of his crowds (lies) and how great his authoritarian inaugural speech was….
these are not normal times.
The press has never seen anything like this before. The public has never seen anything like this before. And the political leaders of both parties have never seen anything like this before.
What can we do? We can all step up and say simply and without equivocation. "A lie, is a lie, is a lie!" And if someone won't say it, those of us who know that there is such a thing as the truth must do whatever is in our power to diminish the liar's malignant reach into our society.
There is one group of people who can do a lot - very quickly. And that is Republicans in Congress. Without their support, Donald Trump's presidency will falter. So here is what I think everyone in the press must do. If you are interviewing a Paul Ryan, a Mitch McConnell, or any other GOP elected official, the first question must be "what will you do to combat the lying from the White House?" If they dodge and weave, keep with the follow ups. And if they refuse to give a satisfactory answer, end the interview.
Facts and the truth are not partisan. They are the bedrock of our democracy. And you are either with them, with us, with our Constitution, our history, and the future of our nation, or you are against it. Everyone must answer that question.

We need to give the man a chance. He has some great ideas about how to help America get back to where it needs to be, both morally and physically. He may not be the absolute best, but he is a heck of a lot better than his opponent, IMHO

Hard to give him a chance based on his past actions and words. He boasted about cheating on his wife and forcing himself on other women. Not sure how building a wall (which we are now going to pay for) is a good idea? Or banning people based on their religion, or deporting 11 million people, or taking away health insurance without anything to replace it.
Not feeling optimistic. The weekends protest echoed my concerns.

Our Prime Minister seemed to catch the ear of the Republicans today, ahead of her meeting with President Trump tomorrow.

Yes, our choices have consequences. But I keep reminding myself that God ultimately is in control. Yes, I'm disappointed. But I'm not distraught. Anyway, I agree with his position on about TWO issues. Maybe those issues will be addressed and he won't be able to do much of the stuff that I feel will be harmful for us as a nation.
This passage of scripture gives me comfort whenever we have a political leader who I'm not comfortable with. I know that many times they will turn from their original (perhaps harmful) intentions because of this.

I enjoy debate among respectful people. These days it seems like we are told that if anyone says anything contrary to what the other person believes they are being "offensive." I simply see it as one person is stating their position and the other is stating theirs. I for one , am a believer. As I have said before, you folks are the best. Hi ya Snorvey. So good to hear from you. No offence taken, nor none intended here either. Had a good laugh at the pictures of the Donald.He's making waves for sure. I think he means well, but time will tell. I love Pink Floyd also. I had an English lady friend . She moved to the U.S. in 1954 and lived in New Orleans for many years. By the time I met her she a developed a beautiful English/Cajun accent. Every where we went people would remark about her accent. She was a beautiful lady. as well, After I dated her for three years, I asked her to marry me. Then she told me she was already married. You could have push me over with a broom straw. She loved riding my Harley with me.
Oh well enough of my trip down memory lane. Just had to mention my bike, to keep my word. Cheers

New York.....Grand Canyon....Orlando/Florida etc....Route 66....Boston...Vegas.....California. The list goes on.
I think New York is probably a must see for a first timer no? Florida seems a bit touristy and garish, same with Vegas.
So Americans, where would you suggest?

As far as roads go, I HIGHLY recommend the Blue Ridge Parkway, especially in the fall. The Grand Canyon is nice but I recommend Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, Sedona Arizona, and Arches Park outside Moab Utah. There are many more places but these are some of my favorites.

Nice, but the speed limits are a bit on the low side.
I think there's too many places that I'd like to go to and not enough time, so I think I'll just wait for 3d Vitual Reality tourism to really gain traction.

The Blue Ridge Parkway and the Dragon's Tail are both in the same area. Very beautiful with waterfalls and as Paul said the fall is the most beautiful time of the year to visit there. Get you a pair of polarized sun glasses as they will enhance the changing of the colors greatly. The great Smoky Mountains is simply breath taking, especially, that time of year. They had horrendous wildfires there recently and I don't know how long before it completely recovers, but one thing I do know and that is once it recovers, it will be more beautiful than ever. All the other places Mr. Paul mentioned are just as beautiful, as well. Come on over, we'd love to meet you. Your southern redneck scooter buddy...

Actually, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan...Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore...wonderful paddle in a kayak for cave exploration or ship diving, as nothing in the water to hurt you .

Indeed, I read many of my ancestors settled in your part of the world and I would ould love to visit Memphis & Nashville someday.
Now that the UK and the US have renewed our marriage vows and we're now BFF's again (nothing to do with us telling Europe to get stuffed of course <ahem>) Trump and Prime Minister Mayhem might strike mutually beneficial travel as well as trade deals. We shall see.

My dad's name was McElravey, and he of course was the Irishman. Me mum was 1/2 Choctaw indian . What a combination. You would love it here. We have an extra room. Take care my friend.

Bloody chilly on the willy today though - the wind direction has shifted to the east resulting in, as our over excitable weather presenters like to say, 'a Siberian blast' <rolls eyes>. Luckily, it's clear, sunny and dry and the excellent Downtown fairing with a heavy jacket on make things more than tolerable for my daily commute.
The most annoying thing that happened today was a rather sickly seagull dropping its bowels all over the scoot while I was at work.
I hate seagulls.

As far as roads go, I HIGHLY recommend the Blue Ridge Parkway, especially in the fall. The Grand Canyon is nice but I recommend Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, Sedona Arizona, and Arches Park outside Moab Utah. There are many more places but these are some of my favorites.
I will second all the southern Utah areas mentioned by Mr. Paul, along with the Sedona area. I also highly recommend the Oregon Coast - absolutely our favorite vacation place, especially the Newport area. Another favorite is western Montana, from the Bitterroot Valley up to Glacier National Park.

NASCAR had it's origin from that period of American history also. The bootleggers would "soup" up their cars to out run the laws. Two movies that really depicted that era were, Lawless and Thunder Road.

The term Redneck can also mean a beer swigging, burr faced, crude over grown baby who loves football, NASCAR, big busted babes, hunting, chillin with the guys in the man caves, country music, tellin tall tails, fightin, tail gatin and ridin four wheelers in a mud hole and drivin the biggest, loudest, muddiest four wheel drive pick up truck, money can buy. Thanks ! He is supposed to go home today. I think yours and his sense of humor are all good for the healing process. He teased a lot of the staff while there and found another 'Murse' (male nurse) to mentor in beekeeping ! I am lucky to have him as my Dad :-*

Snorvey, you are too much. That joke isn't far from the truth. While describing a redneck, I forgot to mention, his mouth and beard are always full of tobacco juice. gross
We had a story going round at CHristmas about a redneck's wife nagging him to hang the lights on the house, then there was a picture of a tangled ball of lights hung on the entrance to the carport. When he returned home that evening, she told him how much she appreciated him hanging the lights. She said, in appreciation, she had washed his truck. The next picture showed an old Ford pick-up in the swimming pool. Humor is good for the soul. cheers to all

I need to visit America someday. The problem is that it's so big and it's difficult to know where to focus one's attention.
New York.....Grand Canyon....Orlando/Florida etc....Route 66....Boston...Vegas.....California. The list goes on.
I think New York is probably a must see for a first timer no? Florida seems a bit touristy and garish, same with Vegas.
So Americans, where would you suggest?
It really depends on what you are interested in. Personally I'd skip New York unless you want to see a big crowded city. I lived in Florida a couple of times. Unless you are a beach person not much to see there and it's way too hot and humid. I have lived on all four coasts and ten different states. There is cool stuff to see all over the country but if you want jaw dropping scenery go out west. Utah is my favorite and has by far the most national parks and national monuments of any state. I did a ride back in 2015 in New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, and Colorado. I did a ride report and took a lot of pictures. Klaviator, great pics, and thanks for posting. Okay, that’s a tough act to follow. Wish I had seen more of Utah when I was there not counting the view from the airport.
I’ll just add traveling down the Pacific Coast Highway from Washington to California is an epic ride too.
