Title: KYMCO UXV 700 and MXU 700 Racing
Post by: Wicked Al on August 07, 2016, 11:53:39 PM
Well guess who fell off the forum bandwagon? Sorry for lack of updates, I need to somehow plug this forum into my regular list of things to do.

A LOT has happened in the past year with still more to come. I received an MXU 700 and it has been modified to race and is doing great...should come away with the Championship for 2016 in the ATV 4x4 class. I had different issues with the UXV 700 and will not be placing, but it's getting set up for a stellar 2017.

UXV 700 mods
Intake, exhaust, ported head, 14:1 piston, race cam, DynaJet fuel controller and wide band sensor, clutch tuning, Elka Stage 5 mid travel shocks 10" front/13" rear, tie rod ends and spacer for steering arm for bump steer, Razorback belt temp sensor, 27" EFX Motohammer tires, MSA M21 Lok 14" beadlock wheels, cage, race seat, clean air for helmet, 5 pt harness, aluminum door panels and roof, and just got the graphics on it a week ago.

MXU 700 mods
Intake, exhaust, ported head, 14:1 piston, sport cam, Dyna Jet fuel controller, clutch tuning, Elka Stage 5 mid travel shocks 9.5" front and back, graphics, razorback belt temp sensor.  Much easier to mod for racing than the UXV :)

I just finished the motor mods and will get them both on a Dyno for tuning and results shortly.

I have a long travel kit designed for the UXV, kinda spendy, but it gives you 1000 sport SxS suspension. 17" up front and 18" in the back using Elka Stage 5 shocks, +5 a-arms and Heavy duty axles with 2" of plunge and 40 degrees of misalignment along with beefy tie rods. That should be going on in the next few months.

They are a nice looking pair. Sounds like they will run with about anything. Can't wait to see what kind of numbers they put down! When you say clutch tune did you have it machined? You race the MXU with a winch installed?

Thanks, things are coming together, it has been a trip!

Dyno time is harder to come by here as opposed to the metro Phoenix area where we moved from. Once it's on the dyno we will play with a lot of settings, a big one will be the rpm limit, we need the SxS to work in a much higher range than what it has been in.

Yes, I have been racing with the winch attached. I wanted to dial in the Elka's with the weight up there before taking it off, but after having it for awhile it has come in handy. Not sure I'll end up taking it off anyway. Might flip it to the back.

The primaries were machined. The secondaries have a dual rate spring on them. It will be changed up to get it to operate in the rpm range we want. I'll let you know what we end up with.

I bet they have crazy acceleration! If you don't mind me asking, who machined your primaries? I have been wanting to have my 450i machined too!

James Clark machined the primaries, you can touch base with him through facebook, https://www.facebook.com/james.clark.77920 (https://www.facebook.com/james.clark.77920)

You can also talk to Al Golding https://www.facebook.com/al.golding.3 (https://www.facebook.com/al.golding.3) as he is the one that did the secondaries. Talk to them both, tell them what you'd like it to do and see who has the best solution for you.

Thanks, I'll check in with both!
