Title: GV Luxury Seat
Post by: ScooterLar on August 09, 2015, 04:22:23 PM
Anyone have this seat? Is it considerably better than the terrible stock seat?

Looks a lot better than the stock seat.  I don't have one, but I need something better than stock.  At 64 with recent back issues, my back aches badly sometimes after a long ride.  I live in the country and routinely take the scooter on rides of a couple hours each.  The 250 is really ideally suited for long country rides up and down hills and on curvy winding roads.  Lots of fun.  Not so great on gravel or rocky roads.

I hear you. I've also got back issues. I took the stock GV seat to a professional car/motorcycle re-upholsterer and he said it was one of the worst motorcycle seats he had ever seen. I thought he might be able to reconstruct the seat pan and re-upholster it, but he said he didn't want to touch it because there wasn't much to work with.

I'm hoping my local Kymco dealer can order that Luxury GV Seat for me. I ride my red GV a lot, and it would be nice not having to stop every 30 minutes to stretch out my back.

I believe it's called a Captains Seat.   Got mine from "Pride of Cleveland" Scooters about 3 or 4 years ago.  I recall around $250.   Yes, it is very comfortable and it pushes you forward because of the excellent back support.  I'm 5-10 and about 225#.   You have the money,  It's a great improvement.

It looks REALLY nice and I might tread myself to one because my stock seat is starting to split from sun damage.  Would love to have something softer and better back support.

I have that seat - bought it a few years ago when i got my 250. Best seat ever. I sit lower and its softer and easy on my back. My passenger sits higher and better also.

So much so I finally decided to sell my stock seat (listed on here and ebay). No chance of me ever going back to stock

You didn't call Phil of Cleveland Moto or POC.   He has 2 left over $220 each + shipping...

I'm not sure I was going to check the price at my local upholstery shop that worked on my bmw seat in the past.  Also, I'm planning on upgrading the scooter hopefully next summer.  Do you know if he will put the seat on sale?

He probably has the last 2 new ones in the country.  It's the same price I paid 2 years and they've got a super group.

Well, I called Cleveland Moto and was told that Phil is no longer at that location. However, I was still able to order one of those Captain's seats for $220 plus shipping. I am stoked! Thanks!

Phil Waters was Pride of Cleveland Scooters.  Apparently they either consolidated as Clevelandmoto or opened a second outlet.  Be sure to check out their website,  if you haven't.  I think you'll like the seat.  Personally I feel more secure with a buckled in feeling.

Got mine yesterday. It looks great. I just got back from a test ride and the seat is much more comfortable than the stock GV seat.

Whoa, Lar that looks really comfy. Will need to give that a try when we get together. Hows the Buddy?

Hi John! It's quite comfortable, but it still puts you too far forward on the bike. I only have a 30" inseam, and my knees are pressed right up against the front.  All and all, it's still much better than the stock seat.

I've put about about 90 miles on the Buddy, and other than a dead battery, she runs great. She's a very torquey bike. I just hope Kim likes it. She still doesn't know about it yet ;-)

That is the strangest looking OEM seat I've ever seen!
Wonder why Kymco built one just for that bike?
I can see how it will shove you forward.

I don't understand why Kymco put so much padding in the backrest. If they would have cut out about 3-4" of foam in the backrest, it would be a much more comfortable ride.

I read that the average Thai male is 5' 7", Vietnamese 5' 4", Japanese 5' 7", Indian 5' 5", Indonesian 5' 2", Spaniard 5' 8", Malaysian 5' 5", Taiwanese 5' 7".
The Short White American males come in at 5' 10" ....while us normal & handsome American guys are generally 6' 3".  So of course us better looking guys are going to have trouble fitting an Asian scooter.

I just deal with it (by spending 3 days rebuilding my LIKE seat and buying a Burgman 400 that has 100mm of seat adjustment!)

I spent around $300 for that seat (including shipping), so the thought of taking it apart or having a pro take it apart to re-do it, just doesn't sit well with me (or my wife!). I guess I'm just gonna have to live with it. My other GV with the stock seat without the backrest, is more comfortable than this seat. Oh well....

I just found one last Captains Chair in storage!   Just posted to ebay.  I also have 4 stock Grand Vista seats.  If you want one you can call our shop Cleveland Moto 216-795-5580.  (Formerly Pride of Cleveland Scooters)
