Title: Dumb Mistake-HELP
Post by: kaktuschick on April 10, 2015, 07:15:39 PM
Okay...first-the excuse. I was SICK. Really sick.

I rode home from work, very sick and I parked (200 People S200)and went inside but I forgot to turn off the key-something I often do. So I drained my battery.

So a couple of days later, I tried to ride it and it wouldn't start. And, of course, I can NEVER kickstart it-it's just too difficult. So I decided to take my little jumper cables and jump start it from my husband's motorcycle.
I looked carefully at my husband's battery, and noted which was red and which was black. I then hooked up the cables. I made sure to keep the other clamps separated so they wouldn't spark. I hooked up my scooter. Then I Started up the motorcycle and tried to start my scooter. Nothing. Huh....

I wiggled all of the clamps to be sure they were solidly on each post.
Nothing.
THEN I NOTICED that I had put the BLACK CLAMP on the RED POST on my husband's bike!!!! OMG!

So I immediately took it off.
NOW the scooter's LED indicator, the odomoter, clock etc, is kind of faded and flickery and the bike will do NOTHING. No click, nothing.

I looked at both fuses and they seem to be okay...Oh, and just to make sure my battery was working, after this fiasco, I ran and bought a battery charger/tender and it was on for about five minutes when it indicated that the battery is charged.

Any idea what I've destroyed? ANY advice or ideas or help are greatly appreciated.

Wow, good luck.  I've never done this so I have no idea what you may have fried.  You may want to try the technical section.

Your battery still could be dead or lacking capacity.

I ended up buying a new battery. All was fine after that. Thank goodness.
