Hi everyone,
I just purchased an 03 Super 9 last week! I have been loving this scoot since it already has been derestricted :P. I have 2 concerns about it. One is that I want to put a storage box on the back of it, But when I went to Scooterville in Minneapolis, none of the SHAD container brackets fit on the back of my scoot. Does anyone know what model of box will fit right on the back without having to get too many modifications done? Also when I am using the electric start, I always have to give it some gas while starting it. Then it will idle to abut 1900 rpms. My last scooter was a 4 stroke Kymco Filly and this never seemed to be an issue unless it was cold outside. Is this normal for a 2 stroke scoot or is there some maintenance that would be required? Any help would be great!

Not sure about the box. If it doesn't have a flat rack you will need a mounting kit. If the carb is dialed in it would start without throttle, but by no means it's it bad that you have to throttle it, just needs the mixture adjusted a bit.

This is the dealer part. I made my own for my last Super9 . This was already on this one.

GVH, Any idea on where to find that rack?

The shad should fit that plate just fine. Maybe just drill a few new holes if needed

Contact your local dealer. It was about $100 last time I looked it up. Or this factory mount plate for $83 plus tax.

on this website http://www.trikezone.com/scooter-accessories.php (http://www.trikezone.com/scooter-accessories.php) it says that "Please be aware that you must have the backrest in order to install the carrier plate." Do I have to worry about that?

I have a mounting plate kind of like GVH's, except it was made and marketed by a dealer back in the mid 2000s. I bolted onto the flat mounting plate a Givi mount that I could snap a Givi case to. I used one of the Givi saddlebags from my motorcycle which snaps onto the Givi mount. The useless small decorative rack on the back of the Super 9 stays put under the mounting plate.
Words of caution.....1. Any amount of weight in the trunk can cause some instability and wobble in the normally rock solid Super 9's handling. Seeing as my scoot doesn't go much faster than 45-50 mph, this is not really a problem as long as both hands are kept on the handlebars. I do not leave the trunk on the scoot all of the time...only when I need it!
2. If you look at the picture of the plate that GVH posted on the blue scoot, you can see that it is held on only by 3 mounting points at the front of the plate. Same as mine. So you need to really limit the weight that you put into the trunk with this setup. In other words....Beer and Canned goods under the seat....newspaper, cigars, and potato chips in the trunk!

My home made one just bolted to the 3 screw holes. I used hollow spacers for the screws to go through. As long as the spacing for the 3 screws matches up it will work. As for weight restrictions. I have had 2 six packs with no handling issues. My old Elite 150 was very wobbly with an empty box on the back.

any carrying case will work but you will have to get longer screws because our are too short
