Title: What's the fastest you've gotten your Venox to go?
Post by: johnrambo56 on June 02, 2014, 03:44:36 AM
Just thought it would be interesting to hear people's personal records of top speeds.

I've had mine just over 90 but it doesn't always climb that high.

Hey there John. Err, I hate to break this to you mate, but you don't buy a 250 cruiser to go breaking any speed records you know ! You just be nice to your pony okay, or I'll have to report you to the R.S.P.C.A.  ;)  Slow down a bit and enjoy the ride. If speed was what you were after, you need a bigger bike Amigo.

yeah buddy, Bob said it. my nsr 250 gp bike takes me from 0 to 100 in 3 and a half seconds and will hit 180km easy. but i dont ride it that much anymore. the venox is made for... legal cruising would be the perfect word.

Well I did it on an enclosed track of course!

And on a side note, has anybody else noticed how much these things love octane boost?

Those guys are too P.C. for the post Rambo. Don't sweat it.
A bit off topic but in the early 80's I had a 2 stroke/2 cylinder rd 250 Yamaha that also topped out at 90MPH.
Tweaked exhaust is all it had.

With the larger rear tire, I've had mine up to 84MPH, but it takes awhile to get there. It's been said that it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast, than a fast bike slowly.  I have more fun on my Venox, than on my '04 GSX-R750.

I never heard that one but it makes perfect sense. I agree 100%

A wise man named James May (Top Gear UK) once said-

It's not about how much power you have. It's how much you can actually use.
With a smaller engine, you can use pretty much all of it, pretty much all of the time!

Well that one I have said myself... Hundreds of times right here.

I think you might have noticed... I like to push things.

I may have mentioned this in another post, but after my valves were adjusted (a bit late at 6800 miles), I hit 91 MPH on the interstate on the way home from the dealership; there was a very slight downhill grade when I decided to open the throttle all the way, so that may have helped the speed. It was simply a short experiment to see what the bike could do.  Running it like that often could blow the engine.

94 mph on a slight downhill on my way to an emergency situation, with a larger rear tire.
