Lately my 02 s9 is having a hard time starting. I have to hold my hand over the trans vent to get her running for more than 10 seconds when cold. Is there an adjustment or fix for the auto choke?

..just adjust your mix screw out 1/4 turn or so....piston rings are wearing...need richer mix....
...top end rebuild might be coming up....

1/4 turn out or in? I have read conflicting info! Thanks for the heads up on the worn ring situation tho.......

My s9 was really hard to start. Even varm i had to have Max throttle and crank the engine for a good 20 sec.
I removed and cleaned the carburetor: no difference at all.
I then removed the intake and reeds.
The reeds were not closing as they should.
Cleaned my hands (important). Removed and took everything apart. Put every part in a bowl with alcohol. Then wiped them with a soft cloth.
I really took my time cleaning it.. Put it all together and now she starts like she did when new.

I am having the same issue when cold with mine lately. I think my auto choke has failed as it will run fine once warmed up. Only like 6000 km using op quality oil. I am sure it started sooner but the weather her is so warm that a choke is not needed most of the year.
