Title: CVT doesn't engage at low rpm

Hi.  Any ideas on why a cvt would fail to engage from idle until engine rpm is fairly high?  Guessing 2-3000 rpm.  Not sure what throttle opening, but certainly more than normal.  Scooter runs ok otherwise.  I thought it might be a worn belt (10K miles), but it's not.  What variator or clutch problems might account for this?

I don't know if this is a recent or long-time problem.  Bike's a 2005 Vitality 2-stroke 50cc.

Check the clutch lining thickness and clean out the clutch bell. See if the clutch linings are wearing evenly. Very uneven wear might mean a worn spring.

Update:  Clutch lining in spec (2mm min.) and even, but glazed.  I deglazed it easily with light sanding.  Clutch bell contact area was clean.

Variator roller diameter in spec (15.4mm min.) but all have flat spots.  Can this cause the symptoms i described?

It might be a good idea to replace those rollers anyways and clean the ramps of roller dust. See if fresh rollers make your CVT more responsive.
