Well,  senior member > thesurgeonistherobot, stepped in and helped to straighten out my tachometer readings on my Like 200i.
The readings I was getting were 1/2 the actual rpm's.
His hint made me go dig out my manual and , lo - the idle speed is listed at 1700 rpm.

So, my 900 to 940 is all wrong.
My tech crew is humiliated, and I have sent them out to re-set the tach - we will report back.
(coupons for a free donut are in the mail to all those who reported this mistake to the Forum Council - the rest of you guys who bought this load of poop, well.....)

That's higher than I would have guessed for the idle. A lot higher.
