Hi all!
I am an GV250 owner and enjoy riding it, but... the seat kills (which I could just get a new one). I recently moved and found I am going to have to do interstate driving to get to work.... I can honestly say that I was surprised what the GV could do.... unfortunatly I do not think it is good for interstate as I got hit by a cross wind and was almost knocked into the other lane (and almost dropped a brick in my pants :P ) Needless to say it is evens like this that make use learn right?!
Anyway I am thinking about getting a Xciting 500ri (or a T-max maybe), I just found a place that will sell me the x500 for 5833.31 after shipping and taxes (new) you think this is a good price? and is it better on the interstate (especially when those surprise winds hit) ??
I do admit that the small storage underseat would be a sad loss :-[ . To bad the 700I is not coming here (as I learn from an email from kymco usa)

Don't despair -- the 700i may arrive here as a BMW.
I haven't ridden a GV250 at highway speeds (I have a People 250, which isn't all that bothered by wind on the Big Slab), but I suspect you'd be happier with the X500. It's a bit heavier, and that is a great price, btw.

The Xciting storage can hold your full face helmet too. And a little bit more.
With the heavier 15" front wheel instead of a lighter 12", the stabilisising gyroscopic is much more effective.
The GV still behaves like a scooter, the Xciting more like a motorcycle.
And you can screw the windshield of the Xciting into lower position (look in thread "Anybody with a Xciting500Ri" below), which makes it more insensible in cross winds.

Welcome to the forum... I agree about the GV250... Just to light for interstate travel of any distance. I am also looking at stepping up. Sat on my firt TMAx, but could not flat foot... So it gets a mark to the maybe not...

lol like I could ever afford something with a BMW label on it lol Kymco would be dumb to let there "flagship" go to another company as there trying to make a name for there selves...
Yeah the T-max is nice in someways... but to expensive! I also cannot flat foot it andddddd the lollipop turnsignals look dumb too not sure whyyyy they changed that.
well I am going to go back to pondering weather to buy or not.

USDOT sez the turn signals have to be 19" apart.

That does seem like the stupidest thing I ever did hear.....19 inches.... I read in other forum that people were finding "friends" in europe to buy the original signals and shipping then to the US..... DOH!

I can see a minimum distance being established, sure. 19"? I dunno... but it does make sense to ensure, on vehicles that are notoriously not very visible to cars and trucks in all other respects, that some standard is set so that turn indicators are more likely to be properly recognized.

I sure don't want to hurt any feelings here. I cannot figure y they make such big scoots.I think it makes folks BELIEVE they are safe on the interstate, when we ALL know there are better ways to travel in the U.S. I sure would not let my 23 year old daughter ride on I 95 on ANY scoot. Sorry for ANY offense! I'm strictly a 50cc fan. Ps She owns a '82 Sturges fat boy

Does that (your feelings about riding on a highway) refer to scooters or motorcycles?
I do not see any difference between driving a scooter or motorcycle of similar displacement in a straight line.

I used to ride a Rebel on the freeway back when I was in my teens. Now I am older and maybe wiser but, do not feel stable on my gv250. But with more power I would be fine. This is just another miss conception of scooters... I ride a maxi... A large displacement sooter... Not a little 50cc mini bike scoot.

I do scooters because I do not want to clutch on a bike (keep it simple). Also I do not want to have 2 engines between my legs, one is enough (ha ha ha joke :P )
Interstate is for getting to work and back in a timely manner and a scooter is inexpensive to buy, to own, and drive (55 plus MPG is awesome!)
And of course there is the one thing I am sure everyone would agree on regardless of 50cc or 750cc, there all just so damn fun to ride!! :D

P.S. looks like I may stick with the GV250 tell next year.... the economy is making me to nervous :-\
