Title: Stuck throttle
Post by: Howard on July 15, 2013, 12:59:02 PM
I have an Agility 50. Sometimes when I start it up, the throttle sticks in the open position. If I remove the cover, etc, I can access the end of the throttle cable and release it. Then it works fine. I have sprayed with WD-40 but nothing seems to help. Any suggestions.
Thanks.

Sometimes the handlebar under the throttle sleeve gets rusty.  Remove the grip or cut a hole in the end of it and spray some lube in there
(but not in the handlebar itself).

If that solves the sticky, then you really need to remove the throttle sleeve, use sandpaper to get rid of the rust  and then apply a thin coat of silicone grease.

Scoot safely,

Good advice. Sometimes too, if the bike has taken a tumble on the right hand side, the throttle can stick. Peel back the rubber grip and squirt plenty of wd40 in there

Thank you. Taking the grip off and sanding and lubricating seems to have worked.
