Title: Parts/repairs?
Post by: Cornfed on July 02, 2013, 01:40:41 PM
Hi All,

I'm considering buying a new People 150 from a local dealer. I was wondering, though, will I have a hard time getting this bike serviced now that Kymco is no longer selling it in the US? I'd ask the dealer, but I'm fairly certain I'd get the answer I want to hear rather than the truth. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Matt

I just got a P150 and asked the same question of my dealer. The owner has a Kymco, so that helps me know that they will keep parts on hand and be able to make repairs. Plus, this dealer is a family owned and run business with strong ties to the local scoot community. Their reputation depends mostly on service after the sale, not just getting units out the door. It's a great situation. Regardless, they still only carry Kymco, Sym, and Genuine scooters - no Chinese junk scooters.

I wouldn't worry too much. Many 150cc scooter parts will fit it and
they'll be making them for a long time. The manufacturer has to stock
parts for 7 years in the US too....

I bought a Yager last year knowing they are discontinuing it this year.
