Title: kymco zx super fever won't start
Post by: deltemis on July 14, 2009, 11:06:16 PM
hi everybody. i have a kymco zx 50 super fever that i haven't used for almost a year now.
the thing is i didn't do anything to winterize the thing since i live in mn

but today i take it out and i figure why not give it a shot

i turn the key on, battery works because i can use horn/signal/lights.
the problem is though when i press on the ignition, the engine spins a few cycles but then it just flats out and does nothing but buzzzzz until i release the ignition.

i'm not sure as to what it is but i'm guessing, because of how long it's been sitting, that the fuel line/pump could be clogged or carbs are gunked up. the oil light is on and i will be doing an oil change but i doubt not having enough/clean oil could cause it to NOT start, right?

any help would be appreciated thanks

..do your lamps and horn burn and sound much like they did last year, ...or do they seem ..weak?...

word slinger is on the right path. the fuel has most likely gone bad, and w/ a weak battery you will not get enough punch to start. Charge the batt, and add fresh fuel. the oil lite is an led so there is almost no current required to lite it.

should i get all the old fuel out first or simply add in fresh fuel?

..drain every drop dude...and I would suggest maybe removing the fuel line where it enters the carb...drain all that out too..maybe you won't have to clean the carb...fuel filter?? maybe that too..

..sub'par fuel, and a weak battery combination...I agree with zombie...

....livin' dead girl...

Isn't your oil light for the 2 cycle oil ? Why would you change that ? Good luck .

Not saying to change the oil lite, just saying the lite is no indicater of battery status. that lite can be on w/ an almost dead batt. Charge the batt, fresh fuel, should start
