I now have about 300 miles on my GTI and love it. The question is. How accurate is the factory speedometer. I don't have a GPS to check mine and was wondering if anyone who has one has verified theirs? If my speedometer and odometer are correct, I got about 60mpg with my first fill up. Does this sound about right.

your right in the ball park,. anywhere from 55 to 70 mph. it will get better as you put miles on it, depends on load and the speed you go,. I get in the 70.s if I stay off of the super slabs, keep it around 60 mph. and you will get good mpg. what is your rpm at 60 mph? mine is 6,000 rpm. I fill up gas around 300 km. takes about 11 litres or 200 miles if I take it easy,.

There are posts on this forum on this subject. You could be 10% off. Minor adjustment to the pick-up sensor on my
Xciting did note some improvement (Maybe off by 5 mph.) On Saturday I rode to Indianapolis and got behind a friend going to the same venue. My GV said 70-71. When I saw him later he said his Buick Speedometer indicated 61-62. Keep your
eyes peeled for a GPS. Older models drop in price, but here's the reason. If you have any problems where you'd need
to call AAA or a tow service. The GPS will tell you where you are without walking to the nearest address.

Just for general knowledge. I installed a second heavy duty 12 volt accessory plug on my scoot for my GPS. I went out tonight and the factory speedometer seems to be about 2mph optimistic up to at least 65. Speedometer 65=GPS 63, Speedometer 60=GPS 58, Speedometer 40= GPS 39. Close enough for me.

That is what my scoot does as well. Plus 2 throughout which for a scoot is very good. My old BV as well as the new BV(or so I've read) is off by 10% throughout which was a hassle as you had to keep recalculating,"Wait that's my GPS talking." :)

What I can never figure out is that your speedo will be off by 10% but the ticket
for speeding says the same as the speedo read....
