Title: Headlight replacement
Post by: mrmike on April 19, 2013, 09:42:52 PM
I wired the European front turn signals as running lights. I used cool white LED bulbs. Now the running lights look great, but the factory headlight has that yellowish tint. Does anyone know of a replacement headlight bulb that will give that "whiter" look I'm looking for?

Just look for those that say "Super White" on the box or "5000K"... yellowish bulbs are usually 3000K or 3500K .....  The bulb glass is usually blue in color...

I went to several sites, but don't see any kits listed for Kymco. Which kit did you use?

They're usually somewhat generic. You figure out what kind of bulb you have and choose a kit
that works for it. You plug into the existing headlight connector and have to run some wires to
the battery. I like these kits, you can do 2 bikes with them but have to add/wire an extra relay
 for the second one.

This is a H4 with low/high beam built in. You also need to find a place to hide the ballast...

I wnet online to Kymcopartsmonster.com. They list the bulb as a 12v60/55w. I'm quite sure it is just the one bulb.

Sylvania Silverstar ZXE shows a H4 bulb. Do all the "H4" bulbs have the same base to plug right in my existing location???

I don't think there are other kinds of H4... H4 refers to the base and nothing else...
