Title: Adding heated seat and hand grips

I want to add heated seat and hand grips to my Agility 125.

My question is can the stock electrical system handle the additional load from heated seat and hand grips?

What if I change some of my lighting to LED bulbs will that help?

This is the seat specs.

Application

Specs for the heated hand grips just say 10/24watts.

That is a good question... most heated seats have two heated areas..driver and passenger...and each consumes about 30 watts, so that's 60 watts if the controller is set to maximum... Heated grips also draws about the same, 30 watts...   Our headlight is around 35 watts, tail/brake lights around 20 watts.   The concern here is the amount of reserve power of your electrical system/stator, which I don't know...  ;D    and yes, changing some lights to LEDs will help...

Amps 5 x Volts 12 = Watts 60 ...So yes the seat draws 60 watts and the hand grips 24 for a total of 84 watts.

Ok, so lets say I change out all my turn signals, tail and brake light.  How much power could I free up from the system?

Oh and I always ride with my HIGHBEAM on!  Does that make any difference from 35watts running on highbeam, like 40watts?

LED turn signals are insignificant because they're not always on.

Tail lights only around 8 watts and goes to around 20 when you hit the brakes.  So a LED tail light will be around 2 watts when it's always on and up to around 5 when you hit the brakes...

I would say it would be very far from your needed 84 watts...


BTW you also need to know the power output of your stator...

Ok, so measure the power output of the stator.  In the repair manual it shows how to test the AC generator charging system.  Could i measure the voltage coming off there with the engine running?

If one can measure the actual output wattage of the stator, you can have an idea on its capacity and reserve capacity...

Ok, so I need to figure out how to measure the wattage coming off the stator.  Then I will upgrade most of the lighting to LED.  Would adding a 2nd battery help the system?  I wonder where I could hide 1 since I dont want to lose and under seat storage.

You can use the 8 amp computer led controller to reduce the draw on the heated things.
It has a fet that switches on and off and allow you to set a temperature you like. I did
that on my BMW...

You take ot out of the box and mount it somewhere;

You'll probably use 50% of max power that way.
