I'm in Canada and just purchsed a used Frost 200i (2,000KM). Doing my research I found that the Yager the Frost and the Dink 200i s are very similar mechanically.
Thanks in part to this forum and my nearest dealer (70 miles away) I was able to determine that the OEM replacement oil filter is the Hiflofiltro HF562.
Hiflowfiltro lists an OEM air filter for the Dink 200i as HFA5003. I suspect that it would fit all three.
Has anyone tried it on the Yager?
-
How did you find that out? Here it only lists an oil filter for the Yager no air filter...

Close... but I found it here..

Hmm well I'm not sure they are the same. In looking for windshields there is a Grand Dink and a New Dink.
The Yager is the same as the New Dink (I think)...
It would be nice to have a drawing showing the size to see if it would work...
-
If you go into the Catalogue section of the HiFlo site and search for part HFA5003, you get a list of 10 bikes (all Kymcos) for which the filter is intended. Some of them, including the Dink 200ie, have a notation of "Euro3"; it's not obvious what this implies, but it might have some bearing on its suitability for North American models.

Well I found this picture of a Kymco Dink 200I Airfilter but they call it a T91000. The Yager part number
is 1721A-KKC3-900
(http://images.wemoto.com/full/FILTER_AIR/10015486.jpg)
It's on this web site; http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/kymco/dink_200i_t91000/06-09/picture/air_filter/ (http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/kymco/dink_200i_t91000/06-09/picture/air_filter/)
This site has a parts list for dink 200i and it shows the same airfilter number as on the Yager;

Thanks for all of your input gang. We're getting closer but do you think that we have a match?
-
Well here in the US this place sells them for $16.60

But our neighbors to the north (Canada) are looking for an alternate part...
-
Let me tell you what it's like to be your neighbor to the north.
Unless you live in or near the big citys you are inclined to shop and have it shipped.
If I do that through a U.S. site i'm faced with shipping, brokerage fees and duty plus exchange rate.
That usually tripples the cost, if they'll even ship to Canada.
If I shop here in Canada the Kymco air filter is $25.57 + $19.00 shipping + $5.79 tax = $50.36 Canadian
You can can see for yourself here... https://www.kymcogenuineparts.com/Index.asp (https://www.kymcogenuineparts.com/Index.asp)
So..... That's why we look for alternatives.
Thanks for all of your help fellow scooters.

Hmm I should fill up the pet carrier and take a little ride north....

Hi Again;
Looking for a yes or no answer to the air filter question I sent and email to Hiflowfilro.
The somewhat unenthusiastic email follows..
Dear Brock,
The Dink and Yager 200 models are very similar but unfortunately I cannot confirm whether they use the same air filter.
Sorry I can't help on this occasion.
Best regards,
Andrew Ferguson

Oh well.... I'll keep trying.

I think you're worrying too much about possible differences between the Frost and the Yager; I'm reasonably confident that they're identical. In fact, I understand that they come into Canada with Yager badging that has to stripped off and replaced. I also understand that there are no direct bike shipments from Taiwan to Canada; they come from the US importer. So, I can't imagine that there's any difference at all. As for HiFlo's e-mail response, I'd bet they've never heard of a Frost, and therefore won't give a definitive answer to you question.

Just stopped by my local Kymco dealer (Moxie Scooters in Colleyville, TX - a suburb on the NE side of Fort Worth, TX) to pick up an air filter I had ordered for my 2010 Yager GT200i. The packaging was labeled (Kymco factory labeling) with GV250 (Grand Vista 250) and Xciting 250 -nothing for the Yager. Well it is the correct one-I just put the new one in my Yager AND since I had just bought a 2008 Grand Vista, I picked up one of the other filters the dealer had ordered for his inventory.
So, you guys looking for Yager Air filters, might start looking for Grand Vista air filters. Maybe some vendors will carry that, not knowing it fits the Yager too.
-
Thanks for your update Charlie P.
I may just order a Hiflofiltro HFA5003 and see if it fits my Frost/Yager.
If it doesn't fit it may well be worth the waste of a few dollars compared to the price of a Kymco filter up here.

Here's another air filter option, Simota OKY-0151. It's supposedly a high-flow filter:

I have one en-route, figured it'd give it a whirl. I plan to reset the ECU, and test it back-to-back with a new OE filter.
-
Received my Simota filter last night. They weren't kidding about the expedited shipping! On first impression, it looks like a K&N filter element imbued with a blue oil. Will require Simota Air Filter Cleaning Kit(Blue), part WS-OC-02, for cleaning am maintenance. I'll need to track that down next. Ordering a new Kymco filter so I can try to compare the two with some accuracy.

I think this will fit the Gt200i Yager...

Randy,
It will fit. That's the filter I purchased. It's like a K&N with blue oil on it. See my prior post regarding the recharging kit.
-
Here's a comparison of the stock filter and the Simota filter.
-
Here's the Simota installed. I recommend an ECU reset after putting it in.

You can just use a K&N filter recharge kit & it will be red not blue. There are many companies who copy K&N and just use blue die in their filter oil.
