Finally picked up my new (2012) GTI300 on Saturday. Had about a 100 mile ride to get it home. Took it easy and was very surprised that the low fuel warning light came on at 102 miles. Thought I would do better on mileage. Started working on the bike (install windshield, new topbox, new graphics etc.) When I got to it, I discovered that the tire pressure was below 20lbs in both tires. The dealer evidently prepped the bike when I bought it in January, stored it, and never re-checked anything when I picked it up in April. Lesson Learned? NEVER take anything for granted. Always check yourself. Hopefully I will see a increase in mileage.

Mike: That's sucks! As I recall...for 1-up riding front should be @ 25PSI & rear @ 29PSI. Give it some time to break-in, but with correct air pressure, you'll see an improvement for sure. I noticed some of the paint coming-off my stock Kymco top case. Looks like I'll follow your lead & score a SH40 myself. We'll have the same scooter (color) & windshield & the SH40!

How big is the tank or how many MPG did you get?
Or as many others have told me here, "Why would you want to know your MPG your taking all the fun out of the riding experiance."

Mr. mike do you have ABS. brakes on your gt. 300i,. I was looking at the kymco site and no mention of abs. if canada does not get gt.300i scooters I will pick one up down there,. whitch dealer did you go to,. thank you for any info. are you below the snow belt we got 6 inches today,.

I don't believe the ABS is available in the US . Maybe in the future. I ended up buying my scoot in Leroy, NY. I have several dealers closer, but he had a silver 2012 in stock. I picked it up for just under $4800 out the door and registered. I couldn't find another 2012 around, and prices for the 2013 were considerably higher. I also felt I might have to wait for a 2013 to come in.If your looking down here, talk to the dealer in Ithaca, NY. I bought my 2010 People 150 from him last year. I felt he was very honest and sincere. I would recommend him if you are happy with the deal.
I think we're finally done with the snow, but it rained all week. I still haven't had the new scoot out yet. I want to get used to the bigger model before I ride too much in the rain.

I believe the tank is about 1.9 liters. I figured I got a little over 50mpg on the ride home.

I hope you mean gal not L. My peoples 200 has 1.8 gal tank. I'd think 50 MPG is on the low side but wait for break in and oil change plus tire inflation before you scratch your head. But do report back, I'd like to know.

My case looks ok, but I wanted to be able to open it without a key. I also want to be able to take it off easily if I choose. I was able to mount my Shad case without drilling any holes. The Shad mounting kit comes with some flat brackets. You just have to bend them and they slip under the lip of the factory mounting brackets. You can get the right hole alignment if you play with it. Good luck!

That's true Vivo. That's the good part of the Shad SH40 cargo. With the Shad I can lock it on if I desire, or if I'm really worried, I can just take it off and carry it like a suitcase with me. My scooter is always in my garage at night, and in a secure location during the day when I work. I rarely have to worry about locking it, but have the option if I want.

Mike: Many thanks for the SH40 scenario on the GTI300. I'm going to order the Shad case tomorrow from my local dealer & have them install it when it arrives. I like the top part with a semi-luggage rack...Does that come standard?

Yes! Mine came with the top rack, bungee cords, and a universal mounting bracket. There is a optional backrest available if you're interested.

Thanks Mike. I just ordered the SH40 from my local dealer this morning. If you buy it from Kymco direct, the backrest comes standard. I paid $179.00 plus tax @ 6.25% Saved me a few bucks as the backrest is usually $50.00 extra. I appreciate your insight on the universal bracket & that it fit without a modification. I love the look of the top rack with the bungee cords. You & I have same scoot my friend to a "T"
