Title: Top Case Rattle when bike idles.
Post by: complex on April 10, 2013, 11:15:25 AM
My GT300i TOP Case hinge rattles when the bike is idling.  This is caused by free play in the hinge pin.  Is anyone else having the same issue?  Remedied?  I tried using Hot Glue to make the hinge pin assembly tighter but this only lasted for a few days.

I had the same issue but my lock came loose..so I used Gorilla glue on it about 3 times..letting it dry and reapplying...and i have not had a problim with it since. It will still rattle a little bit. You could always throw a little something in the case and put some weight in it to lessen the rattle.

The rattle is comming from the pin hinge in the factory case.   It's a quality control issue and poor manufacture.   I could try asking Kymco to warranty it.   Thats why I wanted to know if other had seen the same with their factory boxes.

I just replaced the factory topcase on my GTI300 with a Shad SH40cargo. I wanted to access the case without the key sometimes. I can also take the case right off if I want.

Try spraying liquid lithium grease in the hinge.  It comes out liquid then solidifies afterwards...

or wedge a piece of small rubber on the back cover near the hinges so the lid will be pushed a little bit upwards when closed,.. tightening the hinge pins.
