Title: sputter engine on 500 cc Xciting
Post by: Lalita on February 25, 2013, 08:23:49 PM
My Xciting  500 started to sputter and not accelerate after driving for 50 miles or so.  Does anyone know what the cause is?

The diaphragm in the top of the carburetor may have a small tear or pinhole in it.

Or you may have a vacuum leak in one the the hoses or fittings, check them all for a nice tight fit.

Take off the seat bucket and look at all the wires and fittings.

If your scooter is still under warranty, why not take it to a dealer for repair?

If not, then consider the fuel and spark plug.
Does the sparkplug need changing (<1000 miles on it)
Is the air filter dirty or have a nest in it from storage ?
Is the fuel old and has it contaminated the carb ?  If so, get new fuel and try a fuel system cleaner like SeaFoam

providing more info about the scooter and also what you do to try to solve the problem will help other to help you.

scoot safely,
