Title: Brand New Agility 50- Just had 200 mile svc & derestricton- now is dying
Post by: melville74 on January 27, 2013, 07:39:49 PM
Hello- I have a brand new 2013 Agility 50. Ran fine since I bought it, and I just had the 200 mile service and paid extra to have it derestriced.

Now I will get going down the road, and come to a light or stop sign and stop. When I go to give it throttle to take off, 70% of the time the motor will bog down like it wants to die. Sometimes I'll go to a stop and it will die. I'll recrank it, get it going and if I wait 1-2 minutes, the RPMs will go up, dash lights get brighter. I'll feather the throttle or give it normal throttle and it will take off normally.

Brand new scoot so I'm just wondering if the techs who did my service/derestriction didn't do it right.

I have tried increasing the carb screw 1/4 turn and 1/2 turn more to see if that was it but it did not help. I haven't tried running it leaner.

Not sure if it is ignition, too much fuel, not enough fuel. I'm not a gearhead but have a basic understanding. I will try to get it into the shop and have them fix it but I'd like to go in armed with info.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks---

Usually when somethinhg goes amiss, you go back to when it was right.
If you can, take the scooter back to the shop who did the work and have them recheck what they did.

Hope you have luck.

Well today I had no problems. I have no idea what it could've been/could be unless it was bad/watery gas. I'm going to keep going this week and see what happens.

Ask the garage what size main jet they fitted in it during the de-restrict. Should be an 82, could be they fitted too large a jet and its getting boggy. The weather outside will affect it too. Mine runs perfect and pulls like a train on dry days but feels a bit sluggish on wet days.

Sounds to me like your boss has been ground down ( maybe too far ) and perhaps you could benefit now from lighter rollers. Does your kickstart still work ? If it doesn't, the boss has been shortened too much and will need replacing or shimming. Try not to dick about with the carb screws, put them back to where they were. It's highly unlikely they needed adjusting

Kimmie is back on the road. They replaced the float bowl gasket. They guy said the Kymco ones are thin and they replaced it with a Yamaha one that is interchangable. He also said it had nothing to do with the de-restriction. As I'm not a motorhead, I don't know if they have to take apart the carb to put in the bigger jet. Anyway it's running like it should now, no charge. Just posting for information.
