Title: Super 8 Bolt on Down pipe (i think thats what it is)
Post by: CakeStep on January 14, 2013, 10:31:55 PM
So i have a Super 8 50cc 2T and on the down pipe (and again, not sure if thats what it is lol) there is a bolt sticking out. I took it out to see what happens and noticed the bike immediately sounds a lot better. But having the bolt out replicates a hole being in the muffler doesnt it? so what exatly is this bolt for? is it safe to take out or should i put it back on immediately? im on about 2,400km if that is significant in anyway. If you couldn't tell already, im a noob with bikes so if you could, dumb it down a little.

Emissions testing bolt.  Test they take before it gets to the catalytic converter. Will not increase speed with it out.

See this thread on the exhaust. http://www.kymcoforum.com/index.php?topic=7269.0 (http://www.kymcoforum.com/index.php?topic=7269.0)

...welcome to the forum cakestep!!..

                      ;D

..i think that screw is used for reading engine emissions...

..only thing i can think of anyway...lol..

..i ran with mine out for a while, sounded good initially, but the more i heard it, the more it sounded like an exhaust leak...lol..

Thanks for the warm welcome.

So i guess that disproves what people were trying to tell me. They said it will get a few extra hp. so back to my other questions. is it safe to leave off? i kinda like the sound but im sure i would get tired of it. Are there any type of long term or short term performance issues?

I lost top speed. Shouldn't hurt anything.

..there are ways of getting more horsepower, grasshopper.......

                                       8)

..none of them as simple as removing a screw...

...probably, you might just need to transfer the existing hp to the road a lil better than oem...

..gotta attack the cvt to do that...
