I want to hear from the owners of this scooter. I just put a deposit down to hold it at my local Honda dealer. I am going out of town for a week and didn't want anyone to beat me to it.
I've done some reading, some research but honestly it's a bike I know little about. I've ridden Yamaha Zuma 125 and Suzuki Burgman 400's before this. I'm curious to learn about any problems. Does it handle highway speeds (60 to 75 MPH) well?
Can the wrenching be done easily?
I'm looking forward to learning more and hope to come home in a week to some great info. :)

I've had two xciting 500 scooters. An 07 and an 09. It is very reliable and just a blast to ride. Also inexpensive to operate. You will be happy with this bike which is significantly faster than the scooter you have been riding. Rides more like a sport bike than a scooter, and You can tour long distance as well. I sold my 09 and the 07 has about 23,000 miles on it and still going strong.

I have a carbureted 2007 Xciting 500 approaching 30k miles.
It sucks more fuel than the fuel injected Burgman 400 (my average is 49 mpg [us]) and has much less underseat storage (1 modular helmet and gloves etc.).
The seat is much higher (good for me) and it handles much more stable, esp. at highway speed and in crosswinds.
Imho the Xciting 500 is one more step towards motorcycles compared to the Burgman 400.

I agree - I owned a Burgman 400 and now own a 2012 Xciting 500Ri ABS. The 500 is a better handling and more stable machine.

The new Yamaha T-max 530 is a beast! Sexy as hell! but for the price of one i could buy 2 or 3 Kymcos. I own an Xciting 500Ri ABS and it runs lke a dream. Easy to handle, smooth and an extremely enjoyable ride cruising. Has nothing to envy from other bikes and in my opinion is way above the Burgman 2nd only to the New T-max. Find its a most comfortable ride at the 120-130kmph (70-80mph) speed range on the open road and easily handles anything below that notwithstanding it can also handle greater speeds although the speed bracket ive mentioned seems to put it at its most comfortable.

I ride mine like a goldwing. Several 700 mile days & one 1,004 mile day. Axe handle reliable. Almost 37,000 miles now on my 2007 carbed scoot. :-*

sister mary. 1007 mile one day. Iron butt award for sure.
My sisters name is mary. how weird.

My 2012 has just around 1000 miles, the drive had to be taken apart for clutch sanding. They said it was normal wear. Maybe if I was a young man. Doesn't seem like drive should need taken apart at 1000 miles with an old man scooting around town. Otherwise, I like it.

My xciting 500Ri 2010 drives like a dream, absolutely loving it.
I think it is actually a bit taller than a Burg 400,as I drove by a skywave yesterday and it sure looked that way.
My fist clutch disintergrated(recon),and second one(replaced under warranty),has worked great till recently.
Now it groans and shudders on pull away.
I have seen reference to sanding the bell and cluch, but it is only a temporary solution.
A lot of the big maxis suffer from this issue.
I have decided to ignore it,as it still operates perfectly, just makes the groaning...:)
Others have had no mechanical issues by ignoring the noise.
A lot Of stop starts short journey, could excentuate the groaning.
With a spoiler,140kmg is easily attainable for a comfy ride.

I have a 2009 XC500 and the seat height is one of the things i like most. The seating position is also fantastic. It is a much higher perch than a either Burgman 400 and 650 or Skywave. We have burgman's in the states.

Burgman 400 seat is 28 inch's high, X500 is about 30.5. :-*
