i have been wondering if there was any website or facility that could tell you which year your scoot was manufactured by just putting in your engine or chassis number...
or would the engine or chassis number say that in itself?
the reason i ask is because in april of this year, i bought kymco xciting 500... the dealer said that it was a 2012 model but every search i come up with says that for the 2012 model, i should have gotten a 500i or 500ri. what i got was still the carb type, which i believe was manufactured last in 2009...

I think the trick is in the VIN number, call any dealer and ask them if you read them the VIN could they tell you the year. Or maybe even google the VIN breakdown for the info.
What does your contract with the dealer say, if he misrepresented the product and your in the States you have a case against him, but it must be in writing, his word won't due.

unfortunately, i'm not in the US but in a country where regulation regarding this things are lax...
as to the contract, well, they did indicate in the paper works that it was a 2012 model, and if i find out that it's not, then i think i have a reason to complain...
at any rate, i don't think i have the vin of my scoot.. all i have is the engine and chassis number.. not sure if that's the same...

Thanks Randy!
So for Model Year, I got an "A" (Position 10)..... meaning year 2010?
Any chart where I can find that equivalence?
-
mine says B, so it was manufactured in 2011...
i wonder if i could find out which month...

Here's the year lettering from DOT (the month used to be on a plate on the neck of the bike) ;
