Gonna check out MAFT: Motorcycle Awarenes Foundation of Tennessee this Saturday. They make presentations mainly to high schools to educate the kids that there are small vehicles with people on 'em. Will post later what I find.

Yes, anything that will help us be a little more safe. Cyclist killed yesterday on Phila. news, it just said he lost control around a turn.

Damn -- this is the first I've heard of this. Terrible news. I haven't been to Philly on my scooter since the 14th. It's been a little too cold for a long trip for me.
I hope to get back to posting once the Holidays are over. Enjoying some downtime for the moment.

This is wonderful news! Anytime one of the States is making a focused effort to reduce motorcycle/2 wheeled carnage it is indeed a noteworthy event and should get as much media attention as possible. Especially if the audience is school children. You know it's a shame but motorcycle riders are viewed with the same disdain that the general public feels towards 18 wheel truckers. In that we are poor or reckless drivers who take a lot of chances on the road which is the farthest from the truth. Both type of vehicles require specialized training to operate and both types of driver can suffer career or life threatening consequences if they mess up. Any reviews, write-ups etc. that you get please post here online so I can route them to the Alabama public safety people. Thanks for the heads up.

Third Saturday in Jan will get trained to use the A/V stuff to make a presentation. Will advise.

..people try to take me out, nearly on a daily basis...
..my bud at work was just put out of work for weeks when a lady drove into his path...
..he rides a 2012 goldwing..well, he was riding it then...no more tho...
....he's okay,..some cracked ribs, and only a 1" square patch of rash...on his wristbone....

All primed up last month to get qualified to make presentations and got put on the back burner for a YEAR. The "reason" was they had enough presenters for the time being. All this after taking our membership fee. Kind of deflating. We'll sit around a while and see what happens.....

Please be aware that if this organization prevents one wreck, injury, or loss of life your involvement and support were not wasted. You are now trained and can "carry the message" where ever you go. Back in Sept. I was in a scooter wreck, not with a cager but a deer, and that was the most painfull event of my life. We forget that when we go down and hit the asphalt there is nothing between us and the road. I always practice ATGATT and that saved my life but the impact against the pavement is severe and always dangerous. So thank you for your time and effort.

Sorry to hear about your collision with Bambi and the road. My two falls off a motorcycle early in my riding career involved no collisions with anything but the road and they HURT! I see the sense for ATGATT and overall awareness. I still enjoy riding even though I know there are people and "things" out there that seem to be bent on bending ME!
No, we are NOT trained as MAFT of west TN would not even qualify us until there are openings. Had we known that up front things (our attitude) would be different. This is like telling the people at Susan G. Komen there is a cure for cancer that can be proved and being ignored.

Learned recently the "problem" with the one year wait was solved since it was just one person involved in making the policy. I was asked to jump back on the bandwagon to be an instructor but had to inform him my enthusiasm "pilot light" had gone out. I DO believe in the program but will have to cool off for a good while before I (or wife) will volunteer again.
