Title: Has anyone tried a CrampBuster (throttle control helper)
Post by: Pimpy1 on November 10, 2012, 03:17:49 PM
It is a motorcycle grip control helper. I ride my Super 8 at or near WOT all the time and I wounded if something like this would be easier on the wrist and hand grip? They are cheap but I just was wanting to know if anyone has used something like this.

I like this one better. It's rubber. I had the plastic one and had problems with it
reving up when I stopped as your thumb meat hits it...

"Thumb meat"? I had an old locking cruise control on my motorcycle and it scared the crap out of me a few times. Willing to try something else this time.

Well the rubber one has some give so gets out of the way better when not needed.

I've been using a device called "The Wrist Rest" for several years now.  I had used the other types but this one works much better.

When not needed, you can either remove it from the grip or simply rotate the paddle out of the way.  Oh, for our scooters, we need the "small" size - the other two sizes, "standard" and "large" are for larger diameter/circumference handlebars.

Not in the same price range but I used this on my trip last summer.
Kaoko Throttle Lock Cruise Control (Kymco Xciting 500/I). I modified it for my DT300I.

Thanks, don't want any thing that locks though. Had a cruz lock stick on my motorcycle and about wrecked because of it.  Just want to take some pressure off my grip.

I have one on the (currently-dysfunctional) People 250. Great for interstate riding. Really keeps a lot of vibration out of your hand bones.

I would rather put a thumb throtle on the scoot. ones you see on a atv. those work good.

I just ordered it.  I hope it works on long rides which I will not be taking during the winter.

fshfindr, I'm sure you'll like it.  I liked mine so well that when I bought a 2nd scooter, I ordered another Wrist Rest for it too.

I leave mine on all the time so that I can use it on long straight stretches of road and not just on long rides.  In town or thru the twisties, I rotate the small paddle out of the way so that I can use the throttle normally.

I have one of those cramp busters. Didn't really like it. I took it off. Doesn't really work when you're at WOT most of the time. My biggest problem with it was it sort of gets in the way when you go to hit the front brake. I didn't like that.

Peters, that's what I like about the Wrist Rest.  The small paddle rotates out of the way easily and quickly when you don't need it or you are not using it.

That's why in town or in the twisties, I rotate it out of the way because the brakes are constantly being applied.   But on long straights or on the highway, you are much less likely to need the front brake.

For safety's safe, I've trained myself to be able to use the front brake while the paddle is in use.  You never know when you have to do emergency braking.

I have recently bought this one: http://www.louis.de/index.php?topic=artnr_gr&artnr_gr=10019598 (http://www.louis.de/index.php?topic=artnr_gr&artnr_gr=10019598)
But until now I have used it only once, I don't ride much at constant speeds.
Important: clamp it on the outside of the grip, then you can still operate the buttons.
It is slim and at maxi scooters with wide grips rarely disturbing.

I prefer to use in the thumb position and not the palm position.
