Riding every day that it isn't raining.  Mornings are averaging 37-44F and afternoons 50-60F, but it beats being in a cage.

Riding every day it isn't raining, or if I have to carry things to/from work I don't want to carry on the scoot.

My wife and I took a 45 minute ride (one way) to a pizza place in the next town.

It's in the low 30's F here.

On the way home there were a few snow flurries.

It's cold but we just hate putting the scooters away for the winter.

Still riding every day, and will continue to until I buy a car!  Hoping for continued decent temps (anything over 30) through Thanksgiving!

I ride every day also.  I switch between my Kymco 300 GTi and the 500.  The differences between them are far more than the extra 200 cc.

We're in the middle of the Rockers vs. Mods Rally.  It's a rally made up of of classic and modern British bikes as well as bikes of all makes and years and scooters of all vintages and types.  We have a number of group rides and we stop at bike shops and pubs along the route. Yesterday I rode the 500 - today I'll take the 300.

I noticed the lack of postings and just figured nobody had anything to say.

Thanks for the effort at jump starting.

I used to live in Arizona for over 30 years and never had to put the bike up for the winter. But now in Michigan I have to. It just kills me. I put sea foam in it, start it about once or twice a month, and keep the battery up, so if their is a warm enough day, I can take it out. Here's hoping there will be a few days this winter to ride. I heard next week will be in the 50's? I hope. :-*

Got caught here. Another 6 inches of snow. Can't even get it to the shed to put away for the winter. Last year I rode into November. :'(

When I lived in michigan before, (many years ago). I used to put the bike up around mid Nov, or at first snow, and take it back out around mid march. :-*

I have been restrained in my comments lately. I'm still waiting on my Xc500's repairs and it's not the dealership's fault. They have received about half the parts from Kymco and waiting on delivery of the other half. I have not been posting because of the negative feelings I have right now. I don't want to turn anyone away from purchasing one of these outstanding scooters but to be honest I'm very disappointed in the service response and two months seems more than adequate time. I've missed all of these beautiful Southern days to ride in and I'm considering trading when I get it back.

I love my two Kymco scoots and havn't needed much service.

But Kymco needs to do a better job with parts.

It will hurt repeat sales.

Hi Zimmerman,
You're missing my point. I LOVE my one Kymco scoot. My frustration lies in my inability to do anything with the shipping and distribution process from the ROC to the South Eastern US. Now if we had dealerships on every street corner like Mickey D's, such as Burgman and Honda, the damn parts would have been here overnight. So I quess the reason I have a burr under my saddle blanket is over the process and not the product. Thanks,
Mike

Mike I forgot? What was wrong with your bike again? And Vivo, I have been to Russia several times (Moscow-Rostov-na-Donu), most of the times and I know what the Siberian winds are like. I was in Moscow in Feburary once, WOW, I was never so cold. And it felt like I was in a wind blast. :-*

Mike,

Sounds like we are on the same page.  I love my Kymco's too.

But this parts 'thing' regardless of whose fault it is goes in the negative column when scooter shopping.

Sissy;
September 7 I had a deer run in front of me and then freeze. I suffered and I do mean suffered 5 broken ribs, torn cartilage in the right knee and a broken bone in my right foot. Needless to say the Xciting was scraped to hell and back. As far as I could tell and the Ins. adjuster confirmed only cosmetic damage to the scoot.
Kevin;
your absolutely correct, the very negative column.

Mike,

Man that's terrible about the deer strike.

We often see deer running across the road - sometimes without warning.

I wonder if any of those whistle gadgets would help.

Now I remember about the deer. I'll bet you needed a bunch of parts, including all the plastic stuff. All I have ever needed to order was belts, rollers and such. They were never a problem getting as they are a normal wear items, but I would guess the things you need must come or need to be ordered right out of Tiawan? Many years ago I was sitting still at a stop light in Phoenix Az. A small pickup pulled up behind me and stoped. Just before the light turned green a huge semi style truck smashed into us at about 40 MPH or so. The idiot was not paying attention and never slowed down. I did a back flip off my bike, landed and was pinned under the front of the pick up. Then was pushed along the street where they had removed the old ash fault and just had stone's that stuck up from the old pavement, and was then thrown up on the side walk. Needless to say, two operations, broken ribs, skin grafts etc. After I left the hospital and could walk I noticed that my right knee had damage also. This required another operation. And I need another operation for my back a couple of years after that. I know what you mean about the ribs. That was the most painfull thing of all. :-*

Just voted and my polling place is located at a Church in Jasmine Hills which was my favorite ride. Long, steep, and twisting roads and as I came home I realized how much I miss my daily "sanity ride". Those of you that are still riding enjoy a few miles for me. I really miss it.
There are a few "electronic" deer alerts on the market along with the old whistles that are available. I plan to buy and install the best available and hope for the best. There is a huge deer population around my home and property so I need to be very carefull especially at night.
Thanks for your concerns and comments,
Mike

I am still riding. It was 87 today in Tucson. I would be riding in the Scooter Rally this weekend if I did not have out of town guests. The 25th annual Fall Classic is this weekend. Temp is going to drop into the 60's brrrrrrr.  www.tucsonscooterrally.com (http://www.tucsonscooterrally.com)

Still riding.  The mornings have been in the mid 30s and the highs are pushing to 60.  A cold front is moving in that may change all that.  I'll ride as long as there's no snow.

Rode yesterday. 62 degrees. Just about perfect. Trip was about 100 miles. Runs perfect in cool humid weather. With my Leo Vince exhaust I think I need to go up one main jet size as it pops when I back of the throttle when it's warm out side. Hope there are more days like this. :-*

Several days ago I went out in 46 to 50 degrees with my leather coat on and mask down and I was very comfortable. Today the temperature went from 68 to 71 and I wore a sweat shirt with a High Viz vest on and I was feeling a bit cool and uncomfortable. The obvious reason was the very high gusty wind which was going right through the sweat shirt and even felt it coming through my levi's. The gusts were so bad that I had to be extremely careful not to get blown off the road or into oncoming traffic. It wasn't a day that I wanted to get on any major highway. Further, going out to the Ponderosa with my wife for a free Veteran Buffet today, I couldn't believe how many dead deer were on the side of the roads. I mean, I never had seen so many. We were in the car for this trip being this major highway would have blown us off the road it was so windy. Are we getting prepared for Dec. 19, 2012 with this nasty weather changes? Anyone Anyone familar with the soo called "dooms day" time prediction? Note, I said "prediction". Between the Inca's, Myans, Nosterdomus, Chinese and several other past day predictions of Dec. 19th makes for a touchy conversation. Get your rides in!!

Its the 21st of Dec where/when the Myan calender ends. A huge solar flair that causes a magnetic polar shift? Earth then spins in the opposite direction where the sun rises in the west? Massive earth quakes & tital waves? Science has stated this may have happened in the past? What caused the ice ages? Could the last polar shift have been what caused Noah's flood? Sea shells found in the mountains as well as bones of whales? Mamoths flash frozen because the earth tilted up and there temperant climate became siberia in a matter of minutes/hours? Truth? Speculation? It does make for interesting reading? :-*

I ride almost every dry day.  I don't go far, but I do get to ride.  Today, with my Joe Rocket jacket I was actually sweating, 60F.

sissy mary, thanks for the correction on the date. I don't know why I am hung up on the 19th. This I know is not just a prediction from what I understand..it is a known fact as to what is to occur with the alignment of the planets which happens every many thousands of years. Gonna be interesting.

Yes, something like every 26,800 years or so? The earth is lined up exactly in the center of the galaxy, and they just found out that there is a black hole at the center also? But what or how this matters I don't know? But anyway, the 21 of Dec is that day???? :-*
