My wife & I are talking about a scooter road trip for next summer.
We live near Wilkes Barre PA and are planning on a causal trip via secondary roads up into the Finger Lakes region of central New York.
I'm researching a few lake front bed & breakfasts - maybe a few wineries - some good restaurants, etc.
This trip will only take 3 or 4 days with probably only 4 hours of scooter travel per day.
Please share your road trip stories.
What made them fun and memorable ?
What advise can you give to avoid problems, discomfort, etc ?

We prefer road trips here in groups... it's safer...
Anyway, here's some things I would bring..
Bring your first aid kit...
A small pump and tire repair kit...
An extra cvt belt...
Extra spark plug...
Tools...
Duct Tape...
Pocket knife...
candies...
I bring a collapsible steel batton... for pests...

Thanks for the replies.
The CVT belt is a good idea . . It wouldn't have been on my list but I should get one anyway.
Some day/year it will go and it may not be easy to get then.
I also have a water filtering fuel funnel that I like to use on long trips. Years ago I was far from home (Cleveland) at an AmeraVespa rally. I gased up just before the big group ride. It was bad gas and I missed the ride. So now when I'm out of town I use the filter funnel.
I could get bad gas locally, but t rarely happens. But the real reason to use the filter funnel out of town is it's harder to get help - plus it a shame to interrupt a fun road trip.
I am thankful for my wife's adventuresome spirit . . . Over the years we've camped, kayaked and scoootered through horrible weather. She's not a complainer. I've often said I'd rather travel with her than most men I know. They whine too much.

I mounted a GoPro camera on the dash and recorded my trip. Round trip about 7000 KM Saskatoon sk. to Ottawa Ont. with some side trips. I rode alone, had a belt brake about 3/4 of the way out. I had CAA and would not travel with the bike on a trip with out it. I did carry a spare belt and repaired the next day at the hotel. Truck carried bike and me 124K to the hotel. I will do the trip again I am sure and BTW I am 70 and riding a DT300I. 4 and a half days out because of the brake down and 3 and a half back. ;D

Thanks for sharing your story. I live long trips they are so memorable.
Many years back my wife & I kayaked the Susquehanna river (440 miles)
It took a month. Looking back it was one of the best times in my life.
Back in college, with only a 180cc scooter for wheels, we drove it from Scranton PA to Atlantic City NJ - and back !
I like I said trips make great memories.
