Title: Where in the h_ _ _ did it come from?
Post by: Syl on September 26, 2012, 11:32:40 AM
My experience that never goes away.....getting on a road, noone in view anywhere, looks like a comfortable ride keeping with the speed limit and not in a hurry. The great feeling of nothing pushing you and thoroughly enjoying the great day ride.
All of a sudden, you look in the mirror, you see a car or truck right behind you and..."where in the h_ _ _ did it come from"? I saw nothing anywhere and it's almost like it was there before but you never saw it. Now, the ride is not comfortable anymore being the A_ _  _ _ _ _ behind you is way over the speed limit and getting close enough to you to just about push. Instantly it P_ _ _ _ _ me off swearing to myself wishing you can do something about thisw idiot behind you. "Road Rage", yep, but you can't do a damn thing about it being on 2 wheels. If the police want to book and or arrest those speeders and idiots on the road, wish they could all get on a undercover bike and do their thing....Anyyone agree?

I hate those people, when I drive I give all 2 wheeled people at least 2 cars minimum. Makes you want to ride with a pocket full of rusty nails or rocks. "Whoopsy, my scooter must have kicked up one, guess you shouldnt have been following so close buddy."

Sometimes I do the ol' spit a loogie up and to the side.  :P I usually nails there windshield then I pull over at the next driveway.

I agree completely.  There are enough things to watch on the road without having some jackhole riding your bumper.  I especially loved the day when I let a woman in a minivan pass me rather than ride my bumper.  I pulled up next to her at the next light and before I even got a word out, she yelled, "You bikers all think you own the road."  Mind you, I was riding a scooter.  I just started laughing....how do you argue with that?

I have seen a miracle.  I have the flashing brake lights and believe it or not, all I do is touch the brake and they back off.  In fact that's the name of the system, "Back Off Lights".  Very easy to install and I believe I paid about $50 for it, very worth while.

Sometimes I really slow down so they just overtake me.. or worse stop at the roadside my scoot and pretend something's wrong with my tire or anything...

My daughter is in her last year of law school. I told her when she graduates & passes the bar I'm having a t-shirt made to wear while I'm riding that says "Back off! My daughter is a lawyer!"

My good friend who has ridden for years says just to get out of their way because when it's bike vs. car, truck, etc. the bike always loses. Though he does know a guy who kept some ball bearings in his jacket pocket and would toss a few over his shoulder when necessary.

I can agree with throwing things over the shoulder or some sort of a deterent but than again....this is of course 2012 and there are many drugies and dopies out there that carry guns (illegal) and otherwise and........ One thing I know for sure, if they had law enforcement on the highways constantly, the amount of tickets they can give would actually support their
salary or wage without affecting the budget or other needed police services. Trouble with police enforcement on the highways is that they perform it when there is nothing else pending to do. That doesn't cover nothing. Than when a Holiday comes up they go out in force, hide, plain vehicle etc. I have nothing against the law enfocement, I was in it, problem is as I said, only when they feel like it. A particular area may have but one ticket given in a few months or year only. Like everything else, you hire more police and they find some other damn thing for them to do other than real police duties. Sometimes I wish my scooter was loud such as a Harley due to the people that don't want to see them and than I have a fraction of a chance more...not much..but....
